The 4th Round Carling Cup Saturday Draw Beckons!

Burnley will find out who their opponents will be in the fourth round of the Carling Cup on Saturday ahead of their league game at home to Southampton.

The draw will be shown live on TV on the Sky Sports` Soccer Saturday programme at about 12:15 pm although knowing the usual delays the start could take place closer to 1pm. Either way we will know which of the fifteen clubs remaining we will face before we kick off against the Saints at 3pm.

This time all clubs will be unseeded meaning an East Lancashire derby against Blackburn Rovers is a possibility. Perhaps you would instead prefer to play Owen Coyle's Bolton in another potential juicy local derby? The way we have been playing recently though might suggest to some Clarets fans that now would not be a good time to start facing our local rivals and perhaps a tie against Aldershot would be a better bet! The League 2 side are the lowest league team remaining in the competetion.

On the other hand, since we seem to be back to 'pleading poverty' again this season, perhaps a money-spinning,high-profile game against one of the top ranking, Premier League clubs would be the better bet. Both Manchester clubs, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are still in the competition.

The teams in the hat will be as follows:

Aldershot Town
Arsenal
Blackburn Rovers
Bolton Wanderers
Burnley
Cardiff City
Chelsea
Crystal Palace
Everton
Liverpool
Manchester City
Manchester United
Newcastle United
Southampton
Stoke City
Wolverhampton Wanderers

Torn now between another dull, no atmosphere game against the likes of Aldershot or a high profile game against a top Prem club on home soil. Really do NOT want to face Rovers or Notlob at this stage, just no confidence in the team at the moment

An away tie at Arsenal, Chelsea or Palce would suit me for travel purposes though a trip to the Recreation Ground would be perfect. Aldershot is about thirty minutes down the road so nice and easy for me at least. Southampton away would be a bit further bit have been there many times already. Mind you, I'm spending a bit of time with work in Newcastle at the moment so a game at St James when I'm in toon would be splendid as I could tick another ground off.

Not been to St James Park either RT although game will be midweek, so not likely to be able to get there although will be further North than Cambs working in Huddersfield. Wonder if trains possible on off chance we get them? Home tie would be best for me, since will already be up there

Aldershot, home or away. We need more time before meeting the big guns, a lot more time. Southampton will be a good test this Saturday .

Aldershot at home please as I agree we just aren't confident enough yet to face the big guns

I think it will be Southampton at home, however after extensive thought I would prefer Man Utd at home.

Cardiff away is an intereting challenge. One we could win, particularly if we get some support midfield/defence.
