Sir Alex Says No To Burnley Pogba Loan

Recent media speculation suggested that Eddie Howe was keen to bring 18 year old Manchester United midfielder,Paul Pogba to Turf Moor on loan.

If he had such hopes, they have been dashed tonight following a statement from Sir Alex Ferguson himself refusing to release the player this season.

Sir Alex has been quoted in the Daily Mirror saying:

'It's more difficult to loan a boy of 18 who's come from France.

'We prefer to keep him with us until we find he's mature enough to possibly go on loan.

'Maybe next year that could be an option, but we're definitely expecting him this season to stay with Manchester United.'

So then another one would appear to have bitten the dust!

The player is certainly catching the eye though and has already represented France at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level.

Pogba however has yet to make his first team debut for the Red Devils. He is close though to first team action and could make the breakthrough this season. It is possible he could be selected as early as United's Carling Cup game against Leeds United at Elland Road on Tuesday night this week. Either way, he looks like he will be remaining at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future!

Not surprising really! We don't seem to be having much luck or pulling power anymore do we?

Perfectly reasonable explanation from United. They have an excellent reputation for looking after their younger players and their statement only emphasizes that.

Spotted on sky sports earlier that he is expected to play tomorrow in the cup and thought that's the end of that then.

Yep, to be honest I think Howe had given up on Pogba about same time we also failed to get Shotton just before he made that statement that the loan signings would now be on hold.

Tempting to go for such a talented kid but the engine room of the Championship is a far cry from the Man Utd Academy or the France U19s. I suspect Fergie not letting him go means he wouldn't be ready in any event, so let's concentrate on getting some experienced loans like Jody Craddock in.

Just as long as we get some experienced defenders on loan, as CC says the likes of JC would be fine

Have to say really concerned about our club and championship status! a week to go in the transfer market and we are so far away from getting a team together its unbelievable a week of loan window to go and we have brought in ZERO players in again. I will post my thoughts on this site on the day the window closes until then I will continue to support the team whatever the outcome to the results.
