Eddie Howe was watching a Reserves game between Manchester United and Fulham on Monday night at Altrincham`s Moss Road ground. United went top of the Premier Reserve League after beating the London outfit but Howe was more interested in the performance of some of the United players on show. It is thought that he might be particularly keen in bringing hot prospect, Paul Pogba to Turf Moor on loan. The 18 year old French man has yet to make his first-team debut for the Red Devils but he is highly rated and has already represented France at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level. The powerful midfielder can play both offensively and defensively and is known for his dribbling skills and eye for goal. Some have even suggested he could be a future Patrick Vieira or Abou Diaby.
Pogba seems to be close to making his debut for United and could be involved in their Carling Cup third round clash at Leeds United next week and maybe future rounds if he continues to impress.
Sir Alex had this to say recently about his rising starlet:
"Pogba`s in the first-team training set-up now, so that`s the first step,
"After that, it`ll likely depend on when we decide to make changes. He`ll probably be involved in the League Cup and that`ll be his chance to establish himself in the squad."
If Pogba is so close to making his United breakthrough, you would think Sir Alex might be reluctant to release him on loan so the chances of bringing him to Turf Moor could be low. Another problem could be the finance side, would someone of his undoubted talent be affordable even on loan to a club like Burnley; a club that has taken great strides to reduce both the salary levels at the club and the squad numbers?
