Rumour Mill-A Wade through the Forest Swamp?

Could Wade Elliott be the next Clarets player to leave Turf Moor? The Sun believe he could be.

The tabloid is saying that Forest boss Steve McClaren has made a late bid for Elliott with the transfer window about to close in two days time.

McClaren is not flavour of the month amongst Forest fans at the moment after losing 4-1 at home to West Ham on Sunday. The club are in 18th spot with just five points from five games having played one more game than the Clarets. Burnley are in 15th position ahead on goal difference following victory over Forest's local rivals Derby County at Pride Park on Saturday.

Elliott has not been a regular in the starting eleven so far this season and was again a substitute on Saturday at Derby. Could he be getting somewhat frustrated at Turf Moor? He is now 32 and Eddie Howe has been trying to reduce the age of the squad so could it be time to move on for our Wembley hero?

The Sun certainly claim he wants away even suggesting that we only want to bring in Junior Stanislas as a replacement for him rather than as a squad addition.

One step forward, three steps back! What get rid of yet more experience? I sincerely hope not, this is just getting ridiculous

Not sure Forest fans would be impressed with McClaren targeting Elliott though! Any Vital Forest fans like to comment? Think Elliott once said he would like to finish his playing days at Burnley, so you do wonder what's going on at the club if there is any truth in this rumour whatsoever. Seems a strange one to me,one I find hard to believe!

I think Wade will still feels he can comand a first team place, Im afraid he can not we are going to be bringing in better footballers this week and he will have to start off on the bench more & more this season

You sure about that? Shotton looks doubtful and back in Stoke's plans, Stanislas deal seems to have stalled? Oh well lets see what happens in next two days. Squad would be down to 17 if Elliott left now that Cort on loan to Charlton

Elliott did seem miffed at being substituted in one game which escapes me, maybe there is some truth in it? still think we should keep Elliott he can offer us options although being over 30 you do wonder, what does worry me is there seems to be more rumours out than in and we are already lacking in numbers with only two days to go before the window shuts.

Yep Elliott did throw a hissy fit it seemed after being subbed and also seemed to refuse to shake Howe's hand. Got the impression he was miffed at the unfit Treacy replacing him with Wallace also being less than impressive. It was the opening game at home to Watford!

I really hope Wado stays - he is the nearest thing to legendary status we have bar The Beast perhaps and has consistently been the wife's fave player (and one of the reasons she trudges along to the games!). That signed photo she has could end up in the loft if we are not carfeful here............

The problem is simple imo, Treacy and Wallace are both going to be ahead of Wade for a place out wide. In a 5 man midfield Jay will be ahead of playing Wade with Wallace more likely to move inside. The spot Wade is after is either McCann, Marney or Marvelous Marvins. All of which does not make him first choice anymore, I would really want to keep him, but keeping him happy is another thing?

I hope he does not go. We need some experience within the squad and he still has the ability to contribute to our success this season.

I belive when we go into next saturdays match many will be suprised at the new names we have in the team. I belive we will sign another 3 this week maybe 4. 2 departures this week. I will say this now, and have thought this for a while we now have a squad although small that are all at burnley because they want to be. I do think we will be in the top six @ christmas bold statement yes but i belive this

Big mistake to get rid of Elliott if this nonsense is remotely close to being true. 32 he may be, but he's still got a big part to play this season and hopefully the next one as well.

This would only make sense to BFC if we had enough players already signed up to cope with the inevitable injuries. If Wado wants to go, I would be sorry but have to accept his wishes as at 32 he must be looking at where his career is going.

Robbie Blake left for a similar reason and look where it got him, now awarded a professional Horwich bench warming certificate with a chance of making it a Diploma this year. Eagles may follow in Robbies seat as horseface remembers he can't defend and has periods in a season where its too cold and his gloves don't fit.....bitter....never......twisted...often! Nurse

According to Alan Hansen, you need three things for a successful team, "Youth, quality and experience" - he wasn't talking about Burnley of course but Saturday proved that we are certainly doing OK in the youth and quality stakes. I thought Wade did his best coming on as sub and calming people down. I'm really surprised that he and EH have seemingly not hit it off so well - perhaps their Bournemouth time didn't really cross over to much. I hoped Wade might be a bit of a Ryan Giggs type figure for us this season (not the shagging your sister-in-law bit) but the senior professional the younger guys could look up to. His performances / attitude have suggested he might have itchy feet. I certainly hope he stays, would probably make my lifetime's Burnley XI.

According to LT-Brum entered chase: BURNLEY winger Wade Elliott is wanted by two Championship clubs. Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City are set to do battle for the 32-year-old before the transfer window closes at 11pm today

In fairness to Daz, the rumour originally was the Forest one which he denied on behalf of club and which seemed to be true! The Brum one was late in the day on a hectic transfer deadline day, so we can perhaps excuse him & the club that one?
