Clarets International- Edgar,Mac & Treacy Call-Up!

It is an international break next weekend, and David Edgar becomes the latest Clarets' player to be called up to play for his country.

Canada have two World Cup qualifying games in September and Edgar will be off to join their squad on Monday.

They face St Lucia on Friday September 2nd closely followed by a game against Puerto Rico four days later.

The good news for Edgar follows the previous annoucements that both Keith Treacy and Alex MacDonald will also be on duty for their country during the international break.

Republic of Ireland manager, Giovanni Trapattoni has once again named Treacy in his squad ahead of their forthcoming European qualifiers.

They will play Slovakia in Dublin on Friday 2nd September before traveling to Moscow the following Tuesday night (6th September)to face Russia.

Treacy has won five caps so far for his country and made Burnley FC history recently in his last game after making a substitute appearance against Croatia earlier this month.

He became the first ever Clarets player to be capped by the Republic of Ireland whilst still playing for the club!

Meanwhile, striker Alex MacDonald has also been named in the 19 man squad for the Scotland U21 European qualifier against Bulgaria which will be played at St. Mirren on Monday 5th September. Should he play, he will earn his fourth cap at this level.

Well done lads, just the usual proviso, please all come back safely and uninjured! With our threadbare squad , not sure we could cope with even fewer selection options!
