'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Ins and Outs of Howe to do It!

Burnley could soon have two new transfer targets on their books. Speaking about the possibility, Howe said:

"We are working on a couple of deals and we`re hopeful of getting them done"

He would however not be drawn on the name of the players that he has targeted:

"I wouldn`t comment on individual players," he said but it is thought that the two players involved could be West Ham winger, Junior Stanislas and Stoke defender, Ryan Shotton. Vital Burnley have already reported on this speculation and we eagerly await news of any confirmation.

'Whether or not they`re done (the deals) before Saturday remains to be seen," added the Burnley gaffer.

Meanwhile one of our young prospects has departed Turf Moor on a loan deal. SPL club, St Mirren have signed midfielder, Joe McKee on loan until January, subject to receiving international clearance. If the clearance is given, McKee will link up with former Clarets striker, Steven Thompson who was released by the club in the summer before joining the Saints. It could be a baptism of fire for the lad with St Mirren due to play Celtic on Sunday.

McKee joined the Clarets from Livingston and has been with the club for two years but has yet to make his first-team debut although he was on the bench for the Carling Cup tie against Burton Albion earlier this month. McKee is highly rated and has already achieved Scotland Under 19 international honours.

Taking out loans, the injured and no hopers like Cort, I think our squad size is now down to 19 so two new signings would certainly be of benefit

One defender is absolutely essential, two would be better. Then we can start thinking about the midfield.

albmaleaf, personally I think we should trust Howe a bit more then we have done - I try to trust Howe the same way the Gunners have trusted Wenger, but it is easy to get impatient. Like every other fan, we demnad results almost immediately and in a way have Howe as our Messias who will save us all at once.. Lets give him some credit for the work he has done and the mentality that he is trying to transfer into the squad. UTC with Howe!

He scored in his first match for them 8c8. He's the one player I wish we hadn't sold, Thommo could have done a good job for us this season.

Clark Carlisle said the prime age band was 23-30 for Howes new regime, hence why he was shown the door

Thomo wanted to leave, Can we recall Carlisle from PNE if needed.? Hope we can get a couple of decent defenders signed up before the deadline.

I suspect Clarke was shown the door because the defence was consistently rubbish during Howe's tenure. If we had a 35 year old rock for instance, 20 goals conceded per season, he'd be the first name on the team sheet under Howe. The younger policy is to make money on players and get them to improve, doesn't mean it's universal for the whole squad.
