Ings-ury Woes for Danny and Howe!!

Clarets new striker, Danny Ings who only signed from Bournemouth on Monday has been ruled out for several months after suffering a cartilage injury in training.

This is terrible news for Howe who had only just started to strenghten the squad up front following the departure of Chris Iwelumo to Watford and the reourrence of Martin Paterson's thigh injury.

Both Danny Ings and West Ham striker, Zavon Hines joined the club this week but already we have lost of one those players. Clarets fans at the game against Cardiff City yesterday were unaware of the injury news and just assumed Howe had left out Ings for tactical reasons but now the sad news of his injury means the club will be without his services until early 2012. The 19 year old will therefore now have a much longer wait than expected to make his debut for the club and the situation could now mean Howe will once again have to enter the transfer market for a striker with just 10 days left before the transfer window closes. Howe, on the other hand might have a loan in mind instead since Ings at least looks likely to play some part this season albeit in the new year when hopefully he will have fully recovered from his injury

Ings picked up the injury during a training ground incident and now looks set to undergo a cartilage operation next week.

'It's a serious one,' Howe told the club's official website. 'Danny is going to have an operation next week but we are looking at four or five months and it's a real blow for us.

'He did it on Thursday in shooting practice There was nobody else involved and he just landed on his shooting foot and felt something go in his knee.

'He's never had a knee problem before and sometimes you try and work out a reason for these things. We've been scratching our head, but it's just fate really and that happens.

'We bought him for the future and he's still only 19. He will come back from this, but it's a blow to lose him just as he is settling into the club.'

Absolute atrocious luck in a season that is already becoming a bit of a nightmare with no win in three league games, the loss of Paterson to injury again and the summer transfers of Eagles, Mears and Fox.

We wish Danny well hoping for a speedy recovery whilst cursing our misfortune!

Guess we need a new striker again now, we seem to be going backwards at the moment and continually playing catch up. One bright spot though I thought was the performance of Zavon Hines in his debut against Cardiff on Saturday. Thought he looked sharp and pacy offering summat different up front [Edited by turfmanphil]

We don't seem to be having much luck at all! I agree Zavon did look pretty sharp up front and seems to have a good touch also. Same goes for Austin, his ball control is very good. Didn't rate Easton very highly apart from one or two good tackles, his distribution and general passing needs quite some work. I can see Alex Mac coming in instead of another striker tbh. But we need another left back and centre back in my opinion.

Terrible news for the lad and the fans, hopefully he'll come through ok, I agree with TMP and Yorkshireclaret, Hines looked promising showing some pace and skill, I think he'll be good for us, And I was also disappointed with Easton's performance compared to his previous ones, too many bad passes and a lot of negative play passing back to Grant, I also think it may be time to bring back the Beast and give him a go, Grant has let too many goals in so far, is it 8 from 4 games! and i don't like the way he seems intent on rolling the ball out all the time rather than kicking it up the field, it seems to create unnecessary risk in our half.
