Howe Confirms No Way Jose!

Clarets fans may have picked up rumours that Burnley had been linked with a move for 19 year old Everton midfielder, Jose Baxter. Born on Merseyside, Baxter joined the Toffees as a youth player in 1998 becoming the youngest Everton player to make his first team debut. He first played for them in the opening game of the 2008-9 season at home to Blackburn Rovers at the tender age of 16 years and 191 days! He has made just six appearances for the club but in March 2009 agreed a new 2.5 year contract. Although is a recognised midfielder, he can also play up front as a striker.

He sounds a good prospect having already represented England at U16 and U17 level but any hope Clarets fans may have had of Burnley signing the young talent appear to have been dashed by Eddie Howe himself.

"I know he`s a good player but not (for us) at the moment," said Howe

Indeed Howe went further saying it was not even a priority for him to strengthen the midfield at the moment. When asked whether he intended to boost the midfield he replied:

"Probably not. I think we have other priorities at the moment, but I wouldn`t rule it out in the future."

I personaly think we need a midfielder. we need a extra holding player who can play football ,Can pass ect, essential, Centre half is priority

Given the injury to Pato, I'd have said up front had been top priority till we signed Hines. I am now guessing Eddie sees Alex McDonald and Wes Fletcher as ones for the future, and may want one more forward. Defence has started the season badly, and we look short of cover, so it would probably now be my top priority. You could interpret Eddie's statement as meaning that he's looking for a loan player to add to midfield after he's put his major effort into signing a forward and one or even two defenders.

Totally agree with Eddie midfield least of our worries, attack now sorted only leaves one main and worrying area to be sorted, shipping goals in every game tells you what needs to be prioritised, I think the shotton thing will be important to eddie now, although I personally feel we need some serious experience in that back line

Also we were told all £3M was going onto eddies budget from Eagles and Mears sales where is it? given Eddie would have had a budget at the start of the campaign which would have covered off Treacy and possibly Ings fees where is the cash for players ??
