Rumour Mill-Is Hines in the Building?

Zavon Hines could be joining Burnley on a free transfer from West Ham. According to Sky Sports they understand that the former England Under 21 International could already be at Turf Moor discussing terms.

Hines has turned down a new deal at Upton Park by all accounts after working on a week-to-week basis at the club ever since his existing contract expired at the end of last season.

He now looks set to join Burnley on a Bosman although the Hammers would be entitled to compensation having nurtured him through their youth system.

Eddie Howe is understood to be a long-term admirer of 22 year old and indeed the club were linked with him earlier in the year.

Hines has been out of action with a number of injuries though recently and managed just 15 appearances for the Hammers last season but hopefully a medical would resolve any concerns in that department.

I used to play the game, and now I watch Athletics and football, and I agree with Albma and Bernie that this could be a good 'un. I've just spent about 20 minutes catching up with news on the official site, where there's plenty on Ladies' Day and Danny Ings, but nothing on Hines. Conan the Barbarian, in cinemas Wednesday, August 24th.

I can spell Ahtletics and ftooball and I think Hines would be a great signing. This demonstrates some ambition but only at the right price. Good business!

Take it from me I was once a "young, young" love machine well versed in bedroom atheletics. I am now fat and dead and have never heard of Burnley although I stood on the North Bank at West Ham as a boy plundering the local pie and mash shops before and after a match. Barry White

Don't know Welsh, but did you know that Arthur Conan Doyle was Portsmouth's first netminder? (That's netminder as in goalkeeper, rather than eelfisher.) And Barry can you see the little football pitch surrounded by the great big athletics track?

Dont worry lads/lasses I have called the sanatorium and they have said they will take all of us. Not so sure about Jay going however I do suspect there are changes that will be happening in the boardroom soon and it makes me wonder if books need balancing before somebody takes over.

It's all fine Mr Potato. I hear that they are planning on bridging the chasm between pitch and stands with an al fresco dining area. The two Davids have bought a job lot of plastic patio sets in the Focus DIY closing down sale and are going to be wacking out tickets at corporate rates. I'm going to hover around nicking pints and looking up skirts. Woooooo

After a week when people have been getting their plastic patio sets in other types of closing down sale, Barry, it's good to hear there's a plan for bridging chasms that doesn't involve zero tolerance of moral breakdown. "You're the first..." (Or was it 'you're ma first'?)

Good news Stuart, but will they have a big telly in there so that we can watch the Conan films? Albma is also a poet , 'Jay is on his way' . Hope you're wrong there Albma, let's have a bit of stability with no more sales for Clarets sake, and let's see more coming in instead. Someone said in another thread that it'll take this season to bed in the new youngsters, and that could well be the case, but on the other hand you never know, once they gel they could well go for it. We can only hope. As for being tuned in the premiership every week, I'd settle for that, for another injection of prem cash and the experience that the youngsters would get. Hell, we'd come down stronger . . . .

Good move, don't know much about the guy but he was born in Jamaica so he must have some good tunes on his iPod to set the mood up in the dressing room pre match! We could do wi strengthening the defense a bit now, but positive movement at the club for a refreshing change. Ex- dredlox.76

Perhaps we all needed a bit of relaxation, Hollins? For anyone with a serious interest in Jamaica, may I recommend Kerry Young's recently published book called Pao (Bloomsbury). Pao is a fictional account based on stories Kerry has dug about about her Dad who was a highly respected and morally upright member of Kingston's Chinatown in the 60s and 70s, who also enagaged in things like protection, gambling, US army surplus, and helping fix various social problems through what he knew about the chief of police and the archbishop! The character based on Kerry's mum is a glamorous Jamaican whose business also needed Pao's protection. I know Kerry though her role as a youth worker and author of books about youth work. Come on Zavon, sign the papers!

Right then back on topic!! lol Latest from LT today-The Clarets were last night awaiting the results of Hines’ knee scan before finalising the deal, which is thought to be worth £250,000. I understand the 22-year-old got the all-clear from a regulation medical yesterday, and has agreed personal terms. However, the club was keen to seek clarification, through a scan, that old injuries that have curtailed his progress would have no bearing on the England Under 21 international in the future. Hines missed much of the 2008/09 season with a knee injury, and underwent knee surgery after the following campaign ended prematurely for the Jamaica-born front man. He recovered to make 15 first team appearances for the Hammers last season – six of them starts, including four in the Premier League.

Its strange he hasn't signed yet this seems to have drawn out a couple of days now since he apparently sorted personal terms. Plus another England under 21 up front wont go a miss! Him and Ings makes two could Shotton make 3? Also who could be number 4? A midfielder?

Hollins, are you saying that based on anxiety or information? How much time does it take to analyse a knee scan and then discuss personal terms? I haven't a clue!

Hi Couch just top of my head stuff really been doing deals for the last 20 years, often find when things slow down there's a problem, however Eddie and his good lady had a baby yesterday so may be that is reason in its self to why there was no press conf, signing etc, However its understood that Ipswich where looking closely at him and Paul Jewell came out saying he would be a good addition to their squad, always worries me when we have financial competition, apparently scans are good and personnel terms agreed so you have to wonder what's the hold up bud, my guess is it aint gonna happen

Hmm Patience Could be said Burnley fans have a lot of patience, it took us over 30 years to get back to the top flight, Pain we have suffered that in abundance, profit not a lot but I guess more than we are led to believe pleasure I have had a lot of pleasure supporting Burnley (as well as the pain)

What a naff signing when we could have got Tevez or Bent who must be due a move soon! Can't believe we have signed a really good striker when we should be paying a fortune for players like Big Chris! I suspect all you negative people just don;t want to accept that we must have been in talks for some time to land this lad.
