Who Do You Want in Carling Cup 2nd Round?

The Clarets will find out tonight who their opponents will be in second round of the Carling Cup after comprehensively beating League 2 Burton Albion 6-3 in the first round at Turf Moor on Tuesday night after extra time.

The draw will take place on Sky straight after Sheffield Wednesday`s first round clash against Blackpool, which kicks off at 7.45pm.

Blackburn Rovers will also enter the draw at this stage but will be seeded. With the Clarets also expecting to be seeded, the two clubs will be unable to play each other at least in the second round of the competition. The clubs who have qualified for Europe which includes most of the Premier League heavyweights do not enter the competition until the third round stage due to their European activities. Arsenal, Birmingham City, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham and Stoke City therefore will have to wait to see if they get to play the Mighty Clarets in the third round! (Cough!)

If anybody fancies a local derby, Bury, Rochdale and Preston are still in the competition. A game against Bournemouth would be quite intriguing too in view of the Eddie Howe connection and the recent ill-feeling between the two clubs.

Second-round ties are scheduled for the week commencing August 22.

Purely selfish. Huddersfield away becuase I work in the place would be good for me, other than that a juicy home tie against reasonable opposition,League 1 at least!! No atmosphere against Burton
