Treacy wants Blackburn Revenge!

Some Clarets fans have always been wary of former Blackburn Rovers players joining the club but the history tends to support the fact that they need not worry!

I am old enough to remember what a great asset Keith Newton was for our club back in the 70s despite his original connections to that lot down the road! I am sure our younger posters could also recall more recent players for both clubs.

Keith Treacy could become an hero overnight though after dissing his former club Blackburn over the weekend. He might though be an hero already after scoring a goal on his debut against Watford at home on Saturday!

He is probably relatively unique now having played for all three rival clubs in Lancashire at our sort of level having been on the books at Ewood Park, Deepdale and now Turf Moor.

I am still waiting for our posters to recall any other player that has played for all three clubs over the years certainly in living memory so come on get your thinking caps on and post your answers below this article.

So what did Treacy say about his former club, Rovers?

First a bit of history. Treacy was at Ewood Park between 2006 and 2010 but he was shown the door in January 2010 and it would appear he left with a bitter taste in his mouth.

'I never had a chance at Blackburn, he said

' The managers changed so quickly I never got my foot in the door'

In the end he made just 12 appearances for Rovers over that four year spell spending a lot of that time out on loan to first Stockport County and then Sheffield United.

He signed a two-and-a-half year contract with an option of a further year with Preston North End in February 2010.

Speaking about his move to Turf Moor though, the 22 year old Republic of Ireland international winger said:

'I want to get Burnley back in the Premier League, play against Blackburn Rovers and ram it back down their throats'

'I have a bit of vengeance in mind for Blackburn. I am at the right club for it anyway!'

Well if that doesn't endear all Clarets fans to our new winger, then nothing will!! Bring it on!!

Heh - didn't I say you'd gotten a gem in this guy? Still think Ipswich should have gone for him, but I suppose at least we've got Lee Martin...!

Yeah well isn't that a shocker. Making a outlandish comment against Burnley's local rivals... The fact is he wasn't good enough at Rovers and allowed his chance to go with a string of poor reserve appearances. Yet he thinks he has some unfinished business against the club who gave him his big chance! Like they owe him something after all the time, man hours and attention they put into him! How pathetic! Don't get me wrong. He might have improved since then, he might be a good player for Burnley, but he wasn't worthy of being given improved terms when he was at Rovers. So his whole vandeta and strong words makes him look a fool. Even Burnley fans must realise this!

Not this one,I think it's a great comment and shows the lad has spirit. He has one thing wrong though, he wont be able to get revenge with Rovers in the Championship next season and Clarets back in the top flight!! tee hee

I'm in full agreement TMP. He certainly seems to have the skills. Chuck in a bit of "determination to prove". Got to be worth something.

Aye he did Glen9,well spotted!! He was on loan at Preston whilst on Rovers books and of course had three spells at Burnley! You could also add Bury (2 spells). That's four local clubs, some doing that!!He was probably the last then to play for all three re Rovers,Nobbers&Clarets? Last spell at Burnley 2004?

Love the way everyone is praising his ignorance. With his rewriting history, you'd think he was a yank! lol As for Burnley being in the Prem and Rovers being in the Championship. We are currently in talks for a Manu 1st teamer from last season and a class act from Portugal who has taken the Greek league by storm for around 5 million plus other players. What have you brought in apart from losing 2 of your best players to Owen Coyle? A Rovers reject... teehee Oh well. At least your not going 2nil down at home and struggling to get back on terms... That would be really disheartening for your promotion ambitions now wouldn't it! :-)

Does not sound like all is well at Deadwood either though. With Blackburn owners Venky's looking to slash 125,000-a-week from their wage bill, Indian negotiator Krish Naidoo has been brought in to act as a facilitator to negotiate the sale of players like Keith Andrews, Vince Grella and El Hadji Diouf. Pundits prediction in Observer-19th!! Oh deary me, what a shame!!

You need to get promoted again first Keith. Championship is his level ;). Also thanks for 40% of the transfer fee! Also turfmanphil if you believe what that clown Nixon writes then it's no wonder you're a dingle! You need to look at slashing the huge cash leak that goes directly into Kilby's pocket before you worry about our wage structure ;).
