Rumour Mill- Will Clarets Fans O'Dea on Ecstacy?

Eddie Howe is understood to have made a bid for Celtic`s Republic of Ireland international centre-half Darren O`Dea.

The Sunday tabloids report that an offer of £400.000 may have been made

The Dublin-born 24 year old can play both at left back and in the centre of defence. O'Dea (pronounced oh-dee) started his career with Home Farm before being signed by Celtic in 2006 as a youth. He came through their Academy and reserves side before making his first team debut for the Buoys in a Scottish League Cup game against St. Mirren in September 2006.

O'Dea is no stranger to life in the Championship either after loan spells at both Reading (Sept 09-Jan 10) and Ipswich (August 2010 for five months then extended to end of season)

During his loan spell at Reading, he also signed a new three year contract extension for Celtic. He was also a stand-in captain for a time with Celtic after Gary Caldwell departed for Wigan and Stephen McManus went out on loan to Middlesbrough.

Wonder how much the Reading & Ipswich fans rated him? Don't know too much about him, but at 24 with both international and championship experieince he sounds a good bet?

Seems to suit the profile we want: Young, experienced and not too much money. If Eddie likes him, so do I.

MMmm stand in captain says he's doing something right, I'm with cornwall on this one
hollinsclaret
LT now saying Burnley interest in O'Dea wide of mark and no bid made and to answer CP, they also state 'It’s the second time in less than three years that O’Dea has been mentioned in connection with a move to Turf Moor. Owen Coyle was said to be tracking the Republic of Ireland defender before bringing in Rhys Williams on loan from Middlesbrough in the January of the promotion season.'
