Rumour Mill-Bogdanovic for Burnley?

Rumour Mill-Bogdanovic for Burnley?

A number of Championship clubs including Burnley are reported to be chasing Sheffield United striker Daniel Bogdanovic.Ipswich and Peterborough are also thought to have him on their radar.

Bogdanovic only moved to Bramall Lane last summer from Barnsley, but the striker has been unable to get a regular place in the first team.

The Blades are ready to let the Malta international leave on a free transfer following their relegation to League One. The 31 year old striker is just one of a number of players expected to leave Bramall Lane in the summer allowing the struggling Yorkshire club to reduce their wage bill.

Bogdanovic is actually of Serbian descent born in Misurata, Libya but integrated into Maltese society playing for a number of Maltese clubs before becoming a Malta international.

He started his career at Sliema Wanderers and indeed had three spells in total for them but also played for a number of other Maltese clubs including Vasas SC, Naxxar Lions, Valletta, Cherno More and Marsaxlokk (two spells) before moving to Italy in 2007 to play for Cisco Roma. In August, 2008 Bogdanović signed a two-year deal with Bulgarian club Lokomotiv Sofia, following a successful trial at the club.

In January 2009 Bogdanović came to the UK signing for Barnsley for an undisclosed fee, and agreeing a deal until 2010. During his time at Oakwell, he scored 16 goals in 45 matches, a rate of nearly one goal every three games.

In May 2010 he began talks with Sheffield United, before eventually signing a two-year deal with the club in June 2010

Just put up HC. OK for Barnsley ( 1-in-3) but slipped down for Blades (1-in-6)

Struggled to get into a poor Blades team. Not good enough for us now. Move along.

Not Good Enough ...If we are after another striker which in honesty don't think we need another to begin with would rather see us go for Nugent better strike rate and on a free only stumbling block would be the normality at turf (Wages)

As a Maltese Pompey fan, I know them both: go for Bogdanovic not Nugent. Nuge is a headless chicken who misses more than scores. Bogadanovic can do much more damage than the one time England international! He should cost cheaper too.

Interesting insight that PM! You may have a point although when Nuge played for us on loan, he did raise spirits and if he could only get his head out of the Premier League clouds and play like he did for Preston in the Championship, he could be the younger, better bet?

Prefer Nugent, we know him and Boggy too old for me. If we want another striker we really should be going for one who is proven to be better than what we have got.

I'm hearing positive things about Alex Smithies, Huddersfields keep and England's under 17,18,19 21 capped player. Apparently a couple of meeting have taken place and a deal is about to be pen'd in the next 48 hours what do we know ?? is this to be Burnley's frist signing of the summer
