West Ham are the latest club to enter the race to sign Chelsea's Jack Cork.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Turf Moor of course and all Clarets fans are hoping and praying Burnley could secure a permanent deal for the impressive England Under 21 midfielder.
It is thought Chelsea would be willing to let him go for £750,000 although it has been speculated that higher offers may have been put in by our rivals for his signature.
National newspaper reports suggesting he is set to join the Saints for £1million could though be wide of the mark especially when there was also a suggestion he would be offered a reported £15,000 a week. That sort of wage it is thought would scupper Burnley's chances of signing him becuase it would far exceed their precious slary cap, even though he is exceptional quality and wants to play for the Clarets.
Both newly-relegated Championship club Blackpool and newly promoted Championship club Southampton are thought to be our main rivals but with West Ham entering the race auuming the rumour is true, we shall just have to see whether Cork remains loyal to Burnley or whether he might be tempted by more lucrative offers from the other contenders.
Cork could be keen to simply move across London and join Sam Allardyce's new-look squad although then again he has previously indicated he would be happy to stay in the North of England and play for the Clarets on a permanent basis.
It could be some time until we finally know who Jack will be playing for next season. He is currently in Denmark with the England Under 21 squad ahead of the European Championship finals and it not thought any deal will be struck until he returns.
Eddie Howe and Operational Director, Brendan Flood though appear to be working hard behind the scenes to try and sign him and it is understood they are in discussions with the player's representatives and Chelsea. Howe said recently:
'We are talking to his representatives and to Chelsea and we will have to wait and see what happens'
Just get him signed lads!!
