Rumour Mill- Jason To Pearce Cherries Hearts

The Clarets have been linked with Bournemouth central defender Jason Pearce. The 23-year-old is also understood to be interesting Ipswich Town and Barnsley, while Peterborough were also reported to be very close to a deal earlier in the week. It is thought that around £700,000 could be enough to prise him away from Dean Court. Hillingdon-born Pearce came through the youth system at Portsmouth but never made his first team debut for Pompey spending time out on loan to Woking before joining Bournemouth on a free transfer in August 2007.

Pearce at 6ft 1½in tall would certainly be an imposing figure in the back four and of course will be well known to Eddie Howe being his former manager at Bournemouth. The former link may also work to our advantage in negotiations.

In January 2010 Pearce was named as the Cherries` first team captain and still has two years to run on his contract which expires in 2013. Peterborough were reported to be close to a £500,000 deal for Pearce last week until it was discovered there was a 50% sell-on clause which appeared to scupper any deal.

Wondered when we would be linked with another Cherries player again!! Sounds OK but unproven at this level

Guess that is normal.. Can't say that I've heard much about the player, but since he is el capitan for them, guess it must mean something.

Is he left-footed? Is he quick? We are looking for speedy left-footed central defenders and a possible new captain.

Any idea who the next captain will be? Carlisle? Duff? McCann? (if he stays) Marney? Don't think Grezza is going to play much next season...

The question for me is he better than Carlisle, Duff, and Cort if he is its up to the board to put up the cash if howe wants him. But the problem I see is getting rid of the players above to help finance new players coming in.

If we have £700,000 available first prority should be Jack Cork.

Priority should be getting a grip and prove to us after a season in the Prem we can do better and get our targets sorted. I am sick to death of excuses for why we continue to fail and why because we a such a small club everybody else can do better! Even the ones that go into massive debt, adminstration and the rest! We will remain a small club until someone has the financial balls to try Plan B!
