Vital Burnley 2010-11 Prediction League Winners

The final 2010-11 Prediction League Table of what was ultimately a disappointing season for the Clarets is provided below:

Congratulations must go to our winner, Claret from Away

Claret from Away wins first prize of £50, with Turfmanphil picking up second prize of £25. In joint third place, and collecting a prize of £10 each is Crosspool claret and Barnsey.

For both Crosspool and Barnsey, this is the second year they have collected something from the end of season prize giving! Can we stop them next year?

Both Welsh Claret and Dad can consider themselves unlucky to finish just one point behind the prizes.

Most have considered this to be a disappointing season on the pitch, and the same can probably be said of this prediction league (over confidence perhaps). Last season the winner, BigClaret, achieved an average of 0.87 PPG but this season we are down at 0.78.

Congratulations again to the prize-winners. I hope everyone enjoys whatever the summer may bring I am sure it will be a busy one for Eddie and the lads at the Turf and hopefully it will lead to a successful 2011/12. We will be back with another league next year hopefully the optimists among us are flying high.

Dale

Editor's Notes:

First of all many thanks to Claret Dale for the time and effort he puts behind running this competition. I am sure you will agree with me he does a sterling job! Thanks mate

Secondly congratulations to all our winners, especially our champion, Claret from Away.

Finally I am somewhat embarrassed that somehow I have managed to finish in the top three! Must be the first time in over ten years of trying to convince myself I am any good at this! I can't really congratulate myself and take the winnings from Vital Burnley so I will be donating my £25 to Clarets Trust.

I look forward to the 2011-12 season with some optimism and let's all hope our prediction skills prove both successful and positive next season with plenty of predicted wins coming true!

Joint third again! Sent you an email Phil. Well done to all others especially Claretfromaway whoever you are! Your optimism on the Hull and Swansea results got you the big prize and it's always good for optimism to be rewarded!! Thanks for organising Dale. Steve.

Well done to Claretfromaway and to all the runners-up. I tried to have a last minute surge by predicting a 5-2 win at Derby but it wasn't to be. Poor old BigClaret - last season's winner and almost takes this year's wooden pie. Thanks to Dale for al his hard work on this - look forward to next season's renewal.

Echo the sentiments of the others - thanks, Dale! I'm quite pleased with my finish - I wonder how I would have done if I had stuck with my 1st half of the season "formula"??!! :-)

I am honoured to have come out on top of the Prediction League and I must thank all those who organized and administered the predictions. I just guess better than most. While I live on the East Coast of Canada and do not have the opportunity to attend any games I still feel the pride when The Clarets win and the utter dejection when they lose Next year will, however, be far different with a new manager who can now form his OWN winning team and not be stuck with leftovers from BL and OC I look forward to winning the prediction League again next year

Yes, thanks Dale, and congratulations to from away. I join their optimism and determination about the Clarets next season, and in similar fashion will be doing my utmost to knock them off the top of the next prediction league. Indeed, I note - as winner of the World Cup league but rather like Bfc just having to make do now with being in a large chasing pack - that consistency has been elusive thus far across the lengthening history of this competition. So my prediction is there'll be new faces at the top next season. But well done to those in the exalted positions this time!

Yes, well organised Dale, and many thanks. Like the Clarets, I hope to at least make the play-offs next season, or better still the top 2 :-)

Thanks Dale and congrats to the winners. Highly pleased with my first performance, especially as based on Clarets success so the team could not have been that bad. Maybe more pessemistic next season but then success would stymie that approach Whatever, great fun and thanks again.
