Vital Burnley Prediction League-Penultimate Update

Burnley have just five games left to play as we enter the run-in to the end of 2010-11! Middlesbrough (H), Derby County (A), Portsmouth (H), Leeds United (A) and finally Cardiff at home on Saturday 7th May are the only games remaining.

So how are you doing in the Vital Burnley Prediction League then? Well in our penultimate update of the season Claret Dale provides the latest table and lets our players know where they stand with just the five games to go.

The next time we put up a table it will be to announces the winners with cash prizes on offer for first place (£50), second place (£25) and third place (£10)

Claret Dale writes:

Well on the pitch is our play-off bid dead or is it still alive? Who knows? With only five games left, can you still make a push for the prize in the prediction league? The latest update is below:

The 'poor` run of form (a somewhat kind description) has hit everyone hard in the points department. That will teach us for being optimistic!

During the Hull game on March 8th, the 20 people who predicted collected a total of 28 points. In the following six games which were to see the Clarets pick up only a single point on the pitch, only 19 prediction points were scored as a combined total! Oh dear!

A special mention goes to Couch Potato who in his 33rd attempt was able to pick up a maximum 3 points with his 1-0 prediction at the KC stadium.

Best of luck to everyone still in the running for the prize!

Don't worry chaps if I finish in top three, I will disqualify myself ! ;-)

Can I assume that I'm in joint 4th? Doesn't seem right that someone who misses a game or two gets a higher position based on points per game? If I'm in a tie for 3rd / 4th, I'd like to donate mine to the charity of your choice...

Joint third Barnsey yes. I havent seperated on the PPG basis as I think we always said this was just for 'interest'. As you say it is not right for someone to miss games and benefit from it.

Thank you, Dale, for the timely reminder that patience is rewarded. Mine was running thin indeed before the Swans game.
Couch Potato
Cheers Dale, only 3 points added since last update - shocking!!! Agree with the PPG thing, don't make it too complicated, but logically you still lose out from missing games - mine was Millwall A when I forgot to post my 1-1 and would have been three points! Could be costly!

Paraphrasing the descriptive terms adopted in an excellent piece of punditry by Liam Gallagher on Saturday's Football Focus.....'I'm havin' it man. Know what I mean, Prediction League, watching the game. You know. Mega.'

...don't think there is any danger of me having to decide which charities to donate MY winnings to.
