Eddie Howe On Possible Loan Deals

Eddie Howe On Possible Loan Deals

With Burnley struggling in recent games and with news that Danny Fox will now face a two match ban following a tenth yellow card picked up in the Bristol City game at Ashton Gate on Saturday, could Eddie Howe be tempted to enter the loan market again?

Not so long ago he decided to bring in striker Nathan Delfouneso on loan from Aston Villa to bolster our attack with Austin, Paterson and Thompson now all recovering from injury.

Only last week the gaffer said:

"We`ve always got half an eye on the loan market and what players are available

"We`re definitely not closed off to that idea but there`s no absolute panic in terms of bringing a body in."

Could the poor performance at Bristol and the loss of Fox have changed that perception in anyway? Brian Easton will of course be hoping there will be no panic over the left back spot and that he will be given a chance to play in that role again at least in the next two games whilst Fox sits out his suspension.

But what about the other perceived areas of weakness especially in the centre of defence and to some extent in midfield? There may even be a case of bringing in another striker. Certainly Iwelumo and even the new boy, Delfouneso have not exactly found their scoring touch yet.

Howe was asked again about the loan situation after the Bristol game and on Clarets Player he has again not ruled out the possibility providing the right type of player is available. We can only begin to wonder what the right sort of player will be and in what sort of role.

Either way he will need to quickly decide with the loan window closing on the 24th March.

Should we strengthen and where?

It doesn't suprise me that he is considering this: think he feels let down - especially in the last 2 games - by individuals. I think there will be a fair few coming and going in the summer. It's needed, too!

We need to strengthen in defence, midfield and up front , going on yesterday's performance.
20/03/2011 16:14:00
That's the worry: we need about three players!!! I'd go for a quick centre half and an attack-minded ctral midfielder. Preferably both young PL types who are looking to catch their parent club's eye(s)...

We have a poll up now if you want to vote for the area you think we most need to strengthen!

Not too worried about left back at all. Brian Easton proved to be more than good enough to fill Fox's shoes. The main areas of concern for me are central defence, where Carlisle is having too many off days and midfield. Eagles doesn't seem interested at the moment and Cork seems to have left his game on a bus somewhere. Have we got anybody in mind for these positions?

MMMM ! these players have 9 games to prove they belong to the this famous old club! without promotion we will be doing an England and stripping everything back... that will mean many departures and clearly new arrivals ................ BURNLEY EXPECTS !

Last day for loans, I don't think an experienced midfielder would be a bad shout? But who?
24/03/2011 07:57:00
We now have a young lad from Everton called Duffy. He's only 19 but apparrentlya hell of a prospect. Let's see what he can do.

Wonder if we also missed out on West Ham forward Zavon Hines ? Rumoured to be a Howe loan target!
