Eck,He's Back!

Eck,He's Back!

Eddie Howe now has more options in the back four following the return of former Manchester United right back, Richard Eckersley after completing his loan spell at Bradford City.

The 21-year-old spent three months at Valley Parade (aka Coral Windows Stadium) and made 12 appearances for the Bantams after joining the League Two side in mid-November.

Eckersley has found it difficult to break into the Clarets first team so far and will find it hard to displace Tyrone Mears at right back.

He has yet to make his league debut for the Clarets and has made just once FA Cup and three Carling Cup appearances since signing from Manchester United in July 2009 after penning a four year contract.

It is time perhaps now that we begin to see a return on our investment. Eckersley following a tribunal cost Burnley £500,000 in the end and so far he has spent most of the time since signing for the the Clarets out on loan.

Before Bradford he also had a loan spell at Plymouth Argyle at the end of last season.

Could this signing prove to be an expensive mistake by Coyle or will he come good? At what stage do we decide?

Utd don't take kids on unless they see real potential. Ok , not all of them break through but Look at Eagles and what he's doing for us now, after being released by them. I think Eddie Howe will be taking a close look at our youngsters and deciding who fits into his plans and who doesn't.

Eck isn't good enough nor does he have the right temperament should cash in on him asap
08/02/2011 08:03:00
I must say what little I have seen of him I can't really remember so he can't of stood out, if he had I'd of been wanting to see a lot more of him, and to be honest I kind of forgot he was a Burnley player!! I am sure EH will have a good look at him and see if he fits in with his plans to take the club forward.

Clutching at straws... EH said he bought Bartley because 'something nasty' was missing in our squad, which mirrors what many on here have said about a need for more tackling and harrassment. On the basis of hearsay, I am not optimistic, but maybe Eck can add to that?

Eck doesnt look up to it in a BFC shirt to me, but he did look OK to me in the few games I seen of him at Utd. What are the reviews coming back from Bradford?
08/02/2011 12:28:00
He always looks like getting sent off when Iv'e seen him playing
08/02/2011 13:45:00
Me too TC. Young 'Willy' always seems destined to be on the receiving end of a yellow or red card. Can't really see him getting in the team ahead of Mears at present but he must be half decent to have played for United.
08/02/2011 17:56:00
He could just turn out to be another Vidic or Skirtl who always seem to get away with their spoiling and very effective playing methods, always on the edge of being booked. Not nice but we could use a player like that.

Can't see him making it at Burnley not good enough. We want our money back, poor judgement from mr Coyle
