Pato Suffers Season of Hell

Pato Suffers Season of Hell

It has been a terrible season for Martin Paterson and the lad must be gutted after again picking up a thigh injury. He also seems to have been fated every time he has played Doncaster Rovers this season.

The problem first started in the game against Doncaster Rovers at Turf Moor back in November. He had to be substituted at half-time in that match after picking up a thigh strain.

Little did Clarets fans realise that it would be a long, hard slog before Pato would again be ready to play in the first team. In fact it took two-and-a-half months. His opportunity finally came when he returned to the eighteen and was named on the bench for our recent FA Cup game against Burton Albion at Turf Moor a week last Saturday. It looked like Pato was back when he came on and scored our third goal in our eventual 3-1 victory over the League 2 club.

It was cruel fate and wretched luck though that followed in the next game when we travelled to Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat last Tuesday night. Again Pato got his chance to shine after coming on from the bench in the second half but with ten minutes to go, he pulled up and everybody feared the worse

Scans have since confirmed a recurrence of the thigh injury revealing also a slight tear.

Clarets gaffer, Eddie Howe is now not expecting the Northern Ireland international to return this season.

'He is going to be out for about eight weeks with a slight tear, but the likelihood is he is going to struggle to play again this season,' he said.

'We would like to think we could get him back, but there is clearly a problem in there and we need to make sure we address it and get it right for the lad's sake.

'He did all his rehab spot on and we gave him time to get right, but it is just one of those things that you can't give a reason for and it's just unfortunate for him.'

Awful luck for the lad, let's hope he can make a quick recovery.

Damn, I relly think Pato at is best would be great in 4-4-2 with Austin. Iwelumo, Thommo or JayRod! He just offers that something different and can play off the tall strikers and vice versa

He needs to get whatever is wrong with his thigh sorted. It looks like he won't play again this season, so let's look forward to a fit again Pato next season, hopefully in the prem.

This news really sucks both for Pato and for the Club. Best forward we have and I dont doubt that with him in the side we would have been further up the league than 10th, such a shame!
