Austin Powers His Way into Turf Moor & Howe!

Our first transfer into the club this January window has been now been confirmed on the Official site.

Striker, Charlie Austin has today completed a move from Swindon to become Eddie Howe's first signing of the January window.

He will wear shirt number 23 but will be cup-tied for the FA Cup clash against Burton.

Depending on which media reports you read he has signed for an undisclosed fee, £1.2 million or £1.8 million!

Get in! Great signing

Delighted with signing. Young talent, with an excellent scoring record.

Really made up by this signing, well done to all involved UTC

Great first signing. Well done Eddie!

Big Chris looks like he is off to Deepdale which means a real change in attacking emphasis. Austin, JayRod, Thomo and Pato. Who knows it may just be a recipe for goals.

Not only will he be able to score goals for us, but can help with any redevelopment of the ground. Seriously great catch Eddie.

Good point SheC - certainly hope he can build on the success he has had so far. Older viewers will remember Steve Austin, the six million dollar man, from the seventies. Let's hope young Charlie has his pace and vision. Seriously, a great signing and I suspect the first of a few over the next year as Eddie and Jason start to shape the team into one that suits their methods.

A great first signing. I wanted us to sign this lad in summer, he's got a great record he's young, quick and MOBILE! Eddie says he's a hard worker too, plus if he works out we will always be able to sell him on for more money. I'd just like to compare Howe's first signing with Laws first signing, Austin and Cort. Everyone here is like thats a great signing of a young player. With Cort it was like, lets wait and see and after two games it was like £1.5 mill for that! Come to think of it thats two of Laws signings that can't actually run.....

Just thought of another point, when I saw on SSN last night that Ipswich had agreed a fee, I thought well thats out of the window for us. Isn't it nice for the club to pursue somebody and the manager to win him over and get him!! Why is it that I'm starting to get excited about us again? Haven't felt like this since Susan left.

Charlie's just been on Talksport talking about his move to Burnley. Goughy was gushing over him! Good times are back :-)
Brompton Claret
Just listened to the talksport interview BC, Jason Cundy loves Charlie Austin I think. He couldn't praise him enough, saying whatever level he plays at he will score goals. Goughy gushed over him as well.

I think "Austin Powers His Way into Turf Moor & Howe! " is the best headline for a while TMP. Lets hope its an omen.

Think you have a good signing there and could be the one to help you climb the table. Trust Eddie because he is going places.

Just lovin the Burnley vibe at the mo!!! ... from top down... bottom up we really do look like a club with a fresh approach loving the change in all directions..... on all fronts.... age... experience.... approach etc....lovin it ...lovin it.... lovin it ! quality signing nice one Eddie and the Board, Is it me or does Eddie looks like he's been here months, he really does look like he's enjoying things sure his missing the family and home but he seems to look like a proverbial duck to water

O ' and Welcome to Burnley Charlie! for what its worth watch out for the ladies they look great at night but very different in the morning ... lol .... Going for that job vacancy at Sky me as a presenter!
hollinsclaret
This is why I wanted Eddie from the start. As I said earlier, old, experienced managers bring in old, experienced (and slow)players. Young, energetic managers bring in young energetic players. Eddie immediately identified what we were short of - in a word speed! Expect him to bring in some similar type players, especially in defence. If you aren't quick in modern football then you get done. This was our main problem in the Prem. Well done Eddie and Barry. I think once Eddie has shaped Burnley it will be younger, quicker and ten times more exciting! Up the Clarets!

I remember saying somewhere recently that the Bfc Board should consider giving Prozac free with each ticket. But, after reading this thread, I think they got it mixed up with Viagra!
Couch Potato
Farewell Charlie. I hope he does alright with Burnely.
Nellup
I didn't realise you'd seen me in the morning hollins!! lol don't tell the husband!

Saw Austin in the Directors Box on Saturday during the Burton game before he was presented at half-time. Taller than I thought and looks the part. Iwelumo deal has supposedly fallen through after Preston brought in striker,Leon Clarke on loan from QPR until the end of the season. Howe not giving much away in Radio Lancs interview post-Burton game re Iwelumo. Did not deny he wouldn't be leaving
turfmanphil
Great signing but what must Austin be thinking after our poor performance against Burton
totally_claret
...Probably that he has a fair chance of getting in the starting line-up TC !
