Rumour Mill- Austin In, Iwelumo Out?

Rumour Mill- Austin In, Iwelumo Out?

Charlie Austin has agreed a three-and-a-half-year contract at Burnley according to Sky Sports in a deal reportedly worth an initial £1.2million with add-onns to follow.

The highly-rated 21 year old Swindon striker is believed to have held talks at Turf Moor on Friday.

News broke yesterday that Ipswich were apparantly in the frame to sign him but it appears Eddie Howe has convinced him a move to Burnley would be in his best interests.

Premier League club,Blackpool were also linked as well as League 1 Southampton.

He is now understood to be having a medical for the Clarets.

Meanwhile, probably boosted by the news that Austin could be lining up for Burnley, Preston are understood to have enquired about Chris Iwelumo.

Iwelumo is of course Burnley's top scorer this season with 10 goals so it would make no sense at all to let him go.

It should be pointed out though that there has been no official announcements on any of these potential moves.

Should be adding to squad not just getting a one-for-one replacement. Iwelumo proven in Championship and our leading goal-scorer. Austin untried at this level? Danger, danger

Just come across this article. Would be shocked if you let Big Chris go... We'd have in back in the blink of an eye!

Big Chris sin't mobile enough, He's to football as Bruno was to boxing (stiff) we have enough strikers on our books and if Austin does sign It wouldn't bother me Chris moving on,

Disagree tmp lets see what happens with Austin, so with Austin we have Iwelumo, Thompson, Jayrod, Pato just cannot see what the problem with letting Big Chris go.

No point keeping him just to keep the numbers of strikers up. Admittedly he has scored some goals this season, but has also missed some important sitters. The tally is more to do with the wing service rather than him creating the chances to be fair. and is best suited to playing as a lone man up front. Thankfully those days will be behind us with Laws going to pastures new. 4-4-2 with actual fast & mobile strikers who create space by taking defenders with them would be an improvement than lumping it to the big man in the box.

Got to agree with TC on big Chris he's not mobile enough, he's good in the air, but thats only my opinion. Personally I prefer Pato, so hoping he's fit again soon.

Wouldn't be sad to see either Iwelumo or Thompson move on personally.
