The Armed forces were represented at this afternoon`s Wembley draw by Ableseaman Leon Cashman, Rifleman David Etale and Senior Aircraftsman (SAC) Neil Thomas

The tie will be played sometime over the weekend of January 29/30 and we will let you know excatly when once confirmed.

Burton Albion despatched Championship side, Middlesbrough 2-1 on Saturday in the FA Cup third round tie so will be no pushover.

Well that should be an easy route to Round 5 but not very inspirational!
turfmanphil
Lets have a repeat of yesterday but without the defensive errors.
Brompton Claret
Well hopefully the new manager will have sorted it by then! Dull, dull draw though. We are on a hiding to nothing
turfmanphil
dull dull draw? Cheer up Phil! As you said in your first post this should enable us to progress to round 5 ( If we play properly) - Another nice draw there, and who knows. We may get another trip to Wembley!
Claretdale
Excellent draw - Burton at home was what I was hoping for and that's what we got. Good prize money for progressing and a great chance now of the last 8 let alone the last 16. A new manager didn't need a cup defeat early in his tenure!
CrosspoolClarets
Naw yet another boring.no atmosphere sub-10,000 game at Turf Moor. FA Cup really doesn't have the appeal to me anymore unless we are playing a big gun or a local derby
turfmanphil
Great draw, chance to try out some new tactics with the current players and progress into the next round. Getting beat at Southampton away or Torquay away, now that would have been a bad draw for me! Wigan away, local Derby would have hated that too.
VinRogue
Wow. I think I would have preferred a draw against a "big club" away from home, getting beaten and missing out on the chance of another game and the prize money. I'm with you, right, Phil?

Oops...missed my smiley. This is a good draw: exactly as most people above have said. Yes, we will look a bit silly if we lose. However, play to even 75% and we will win without too much trouble. PV were in 4th place; BA are in 19th, although they HAVE beaten league leaders Chesterfield twice. Before we drew them, watching the highlights yesterday, I thought that Boro's inability to score from one of about a dozen good chances, plus a wrong offside call cost them yesterday, and BA got lucky.

Suits me, a comfortable win followed by a home tie against Sheff Wed. Then some real giant killing. Just think, a good new manager, FA Cup Semi's, and promotion. Roll on you Clarets.
cornwallclaret
Exactly! What was it that advert used to say: "PMA"?
whentheballmoves
Remember Burton giving United a scare a few years ago. Different team now of course but a home draw, against a side a couple of divisions below....you can't ask for much more than that. If the team prepares properly they should have enough to progress to the next round.
RickersTwickers
Still BORING and no bugger will turn up! Look we are going to get stuffed by ManUChelskiArse at some point anyway, lets go for it now and then concentrate on something far more important, getting promotion! Burton Albion? Do me a favour
turfmanphil
We are at home we are through.
Grimsby Claret
tmp-you are such a miserable so and so nowadays! This is a brillant draw. Who cares how many turn up. After this only need to win/fluke 2 more games and we are at Wembley. Theres every chance we can avoid the big 3 or 4 in those games as there will be 15 other teams with us in round 5. I dont mind losing to Man U or Chelsea at Wembley. Are you saying you dont want a Wembley trip? And dont come out with that distraction from the league nonsense-it didnt do us any harm 2 years ago
boltonclaret
Don't wish to be a damp blanket but I can remember when we were in the old 1st Div. and played Non-League Wimbledon. That one should have been in the bag as well.Don't get too complacent!
CanadaClaret
Exactly, CC I would mush prefer to play higher quality teams in a great atmosphere and lose than play some minnow and run the risk of slipping on a banana skin in a match with about as much atmosphere as the moon! Even if you win 5-0, there isn't much satisfaction since you are expected to anyway. It is not about being miserable, it's about getting value for money in an entertaining game. Don't you believe too stories that we dont need the money any more. If it wasn't for the parachute payments, I am told we would be losing money hand over fist
turfmanphil
No. Its about more than that one match and its atmosphere. Its about where it can lead to. As well as the excitement of the possible london trip(s) itself the publicity from 1 to 3 wembley trips in a season enhances our reputation and helps attract good players. And looking at the posts you seem to be well in the minority 9 -1 I reckon-even cc didnt actually say it wasnt a good draw - so i agree with Claretdale-you're miserable!
boltonclaret
No problem about being in the minority on here, I think the gate against Port Vale showed what the majority view was! Contrast that with the atmosphere there would have been had we played Blackburn or Bolton, not to mention the gate receipts we would have got! We might even have won that one! Wembley is a pipe dream, promotion is what we should be concentrating on. If we have to play these FA Cup games, and let's face it most clubs in the Prem treat them with contempt (Blackpool the latest), we may as well play Prem clubs now and reap the benefits! We always have a chance of beating their second or third strings. play them later on, when they are closer to Wembley glory and they will put out a stronger team. Not being miserable being practical
turfmanphil
TMP I suspect youre in minority on this board because of your travelling issues and you might feel differently if you lived in north west--i wouldnt travel a long way for the Burton match either--but i would still be excited about Wembley. Wembley is not a pipe dream its realistic. Beat Burton then just need 2 more wins and as you say against teams that dont treat it seriously. The FA Cup is ripe for Championship teams nowadays--look at Cardiff
boltonclaret
I am going to be a real hypocrite here, after bemoaning the fact that it was a very poor show from the Burnley fans on Saturday. I for one will not be attending as I am on the late shift at work, if it was a normal league match I would of swapped shifts or booked it off. But for a cup match against Burton sorry not going to waste my leave. In saying that if I was on the early shift as I was Saturday I would of got my hours in so I could sneak off early and go to the game.
sheclaret
If we cannot beat Burton then we don't deserve to progress, I do think this should be brought down to a tenner to get on.
8clarets8
Think the club have their hands tied on that 8c8 as I'm pretty sure that the FA set a minimum charge for FA Cup games. This competition certainly isn't what is was in the olden days but that was when the final was one of the only live games on telly. Things a bit different now and league performance at whatever level takes precedence. Can't blame managers for that as if they lose two consecutive games these days they get the sack ! And finally (Esther), there is no doubt the club will be losing money. Paying a big staff high wages on the crowds we get will never balance the books alone but, for that, read just about any club in the country.
RickersTwickers
Funny thing is I will be going, nothing better to do, I will be up North anyway and will be able to go. Home games not a problem usually since I am on a contract in Huddersfield during week. Fixture is still as dull as ditchwater though but marginally better than my mum wittering in my ear all afternoon!
turfmanphil
Well I never knew that RT? Surely there must be some flexabilty in it as in bring the price down more bums on seats meaning it would equate to the same money, maybe not!! Tmp I do hope your mum does not check out VB
8clarets8
I thought for cup matches you could charge what you wanted but had to get the agreement of the oposing club. I maybe wrong
