Rumour Mill-Dean Leacock Linked Again

According to Skysports.com Burnley are considering a move to sign Derby County's unsettled defender Dean Leacock.

The 26-year-old only last week attracted interest from Premier League club, West Bromwich Albion.

Leacock's future at Pride Park appears to be in doubt following recent criticism from manager Nigel Clough. He claimed the defender offered 'absolutely nothing' in the 5-2 defeat recently by local rivals Nottingham Forest.

The former Fulham defender has since been an unused substitute failing to make an appearance in the Rams Championship games against Preston North End and Millwall.

Leacock started his professional career at Craven Cottage in 2001 but only made a handful of appearances also finding himself out on loan to Coventry City for two spells in 2004 and 2005.

In August 2006, it was announced that he would join Derby County in a £375,000 transfer.

Leacock is primarily a centre back but can also play at right back and as a defensive midfielder.

This is not the first time we have been linked with the defender but maybe now if the rumour is true Derby County might be more inclined to release him.

Oh well at least the rumour involves a defender this time! Get the feeling we can do better though

Must get the new manager in place before we start looking at players coming in or going out.

Doesn't sound any better than our current crop.

Swop him for Carlisle, Duff and Eckersley and 4 pies if necessary.... I have no idea if he is any good which makes me quite educated at having an opinion on price!

Just looking back we were reported to be interested in him in 2008 and back then willing to pay £500,000 according to speculation

Not sure how recent that picture is bit he looks to be a member of the funny haircut brigade. Call me old-fashioned but too many of our players seem more interested in wearing snoods, gloves and tights than playing football. Lots of them like shooting at an empty goal before the game and none of them like performing the same task during proceedings. Don't think anyone will be joining or leaving the club until we have a new manager installed - though if the pie I had against Scunthorpe is anything to go by, Vin's suggestion of four new pies might not be a bad idea in the interim.

Leacock is the one that used to wear one of those bandana things! Looked more suited to cooking cordon bleu sausage & mash than playing football! ;-)

OK having read that I am prepared to go to 5 pies Eckersley, Carlisle, Duff and Thomo for our new fashionable defender.

Dont know if he is any good or not - either way I totally agree with fedup - Players should not be moving in or out until we have a new manager in place.
