Rumour Mill-Only the Best for Clarets,Leon?

According to the News of the World,Burnley, Crystal Palace and Swansea are interested in taking 24 year old Newcastle striker Leon Best on loan. The paper also suggests, Nottingham Forest could go one better and sign the striker on a permanent deal.

Best started his professional career at Southampton in 2004 after coming through Notts County's youth system. A spate of loans followed to QPR, Sheffield Wednesday (two spells),Bournemouth and Yeovil.

In July 2007, he joined Coventry City for a fee of £650,000 after a tribunal decision.

The Republic of Ireland international signed for Newcastle United on in February 2010 for an undisclosed fee on a three and a half year contract but he has struggled to make his mark for the Toons and has also suffered with a cruciate ligament injury picked up in pre-season. He faces an uncertain future at St James Park following the dismissal recently of manager, Chris Hughton.

Light training followed in September and he has since made an appearance on the bench but has yet to score for Newcastle.

Not sure about this one,out-of-action for sometime and looks injury prone. If you remember at Coventry he got a cheek fracture at the end of 2008 although he played on wearing a protective mask

Why are we always being linked with strikers. At the last count we already have 5 with, presumably, one or two coming through the ranks. According to the managers we've had recently, they are all top class so why bring in any more? I would prefer to be linked with some decent defenders.

Got to agree with Canada after yesterday's match we have got to start getting clean sheets.

Gotta to agree Canada, I think we have enough quality in our strike force, I would also much prefer to see some good solid defenders coming in.

wont be any signing .... we need a manager first
hollinsclaret
Not necessarily Hollins - Many clubs have signed players without a manager ( although i also find it slightly odd). Agree with the general consensus that a front five as we currently have should be more than enough ( Chris, Pato, Jay, Thommo, Guidetti) The only way I can see a need for another is if one or more are to be offloaded?

His hat trick tonight will have put an end to this rumour anyway
