Rumour Mill-Steven Fletcher Coming Back?

The Daily Mirror over the weekend reported that former Clarets striker,Steven Fletcher was ready to quit the club he joined just six months ago.

The Scotland international became Wolves joint record signing in the summer after signing from Burnley for a reported 7.5 million.

Fletcher, 23 though has failed to settle at Molineux despite scoring four goals for Wolves so far this season in the Premier League.

He has suffered from injuries but now fully fit he still can't command a regular starting eleven place under Mick McCarthy.

It is thought that Fletcher was originally brought in as a potential replacement for Kevin Doyle with the Republic of Ireland international striker widely expected to leave in the summer. In the end though Doyle stayed and has become the automatic choice up front despite scoring just once in the top flight.Fletcher has not started for Wolves since their Carling Cup clash at Old Trafford seven matches ago.

Clearly Fletcher is unsettled and could be ready to move to another top flight club. The Mirror though intimate that Fletcher is wanted by Burnley so whether that is true or not remains to be seen. Could we afford to bring Fletcher back to Turf Moor? Possibly not but maybe a loan could be considered with a view to making a permanent move next summer. That could be the intention especially if the Clarets could gain promotion back to the top flight and Wolves, currently second from bottom in the Premier League are relegated.

Interesting but I do find it difficult to believe that a return to Turf Moor is on the cards but stranger things have happened

Also would be surprised to see this happen TMP.

Wouldn't want to see this happen, though a key factor might be if Wolves have any instalments left to pay on the transfer fee.

I think that this is the media putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5. A loan deal for the rest of the season might be of mutual benefit, however? I'd have thought clubs like Blackpool etc would be first up for this though?

I read this as well, and took it to be the usual media speculation.

Wolves fans say he's on his way here already. Then again how reliable are they? Forget Big Sam though lets dump Laws and go for a "hand of god" type person. Anything they can do we can do better.

Only Derby have scored MORE goals than us at home this season, but only Boro have scored significantly LESS than us away this season. Our problem is simply 6 points from a possible 27 points away from home, only Boro and Palace have a worse away points haul than us. Add just 6 points to our away tally and look at the league table, win our game in hand at we would be 2nd. Our away form will keep us mid table unless he/we/they find the answer.

More to Fletcher's game than just out and out striker like Iwelumo, Often ran back and caused things to happen, and better at holding up ball and assists
