Rumour Mill-A Travel Guidetti to Burnley?

Manchester City's young 18 year old striker John Guidetti appears to be the loan target mentioned anonymously by Brian Laws yesterday.

It is loan deadline day today with clubs only having until 5pm to seal any deals.

Laws told the club's official website yesterday:

'We have been given the opportunity to look at a good young player on loan.

'He is someone I have had my eye on for some time and this would allow us to have a really good look at him in the short term with a long-term view.'

Guidetti is Swedish ,born in Stockholm and started his career with Swedish club Bromaapojkama before joining Manchester City in April 2008 after signing a three year deal. He has one Swedish Under 21 cap which he picked up this year.

Burnley fans following the interets of our second-string team may well recall the hat-trick, John Guidetti scored against Burnley in his reserve team debut for Manchester City. His record for City's under 18 team is pretty impressive scoring a goal a game but he has yet to make his competitive first team debut for the club.

Earlier this year, he returned on loan to his former Swedish club,Bromaapojkama for 8 games and was pretty impressive creating 4 goals and 4 assists!

Sounds promising but not someone you would expect to demand a first team slot from day 1

Bit confused by what Laws has said. I agree with you that this lad ( unless he is awesome) is unlikely to command a regular slot from day 1, but I thought we were told earlier that any players coming in were to be for the starting team?

Good point Dale, Leeds Johnson might be more of that ilk! Some more on Guidetti on Sky Sports-Cardiff, Ipswich, Leicester and Nottingham Forest are all keen to land the young Swedish prospect, but the Clarets are in pole position. Guidetti is very highly rated by City. However, he is out of contract at the end of the season and a string of Europe's biggest clubs are now ready to make him an offer in January. Should City sanction his loan, then it will be for an initial month-long deal. . [Edited by turfmanphil]

LT write:Burnley were not naming their target yesterday but it seems likely that the new boy will be regarded as more of a long-term prospect than an impact signing. The Burnley boss says he is keen to assess the player ‘with a long-term view’, suggesting that the player in question could be available on a permanent basis in the months ahead. Sounds like Guidetti then?
