Rumour Mill-Kevin Phillips Loan?

37 year old England international striker, Kevin Phillips is understood to be on Burnley's radar according to the Express & Star with Brian Laws looking to bring him to Turf Moor on loan.

Phillips signed for his current club, Birmingham in July 2008 penning a two-year deal after failing to agree terms with West Brom when his contract at The Hawthorns expired at the end of the 2007-08 season.

His goal scoring prowess for Birmingham has not been as impressive as at West Brom but he has still managed to score on average once in every three games.

He has impressed enough at St Andrews to be awarded a new one-year contract extension with the Blues which he signed earlier this year in the summer(June 2010).

The much travelled striker has also played for Watford,Sunderland,Southampton and Aston Villa.

Whether Blues manager,Alex McLeish would be willing to release Phillips on loan is another matter but I have always been an admirer of Phillips despite his advancing years.

The rumour though does seem to be an odd one looking at the depth of quality in our attack force.

Difficult to believe this is true but if he does come we could have more umph upfront and win a few away. His age is a worry though
turfmanphil
as a loan Phil, I wouldnt worry to much about his age. No doubt he knows where the net is, but agree with your comments that it would seem strange with the attack we already have.
Claretdale
The attack we already have seem to be just failing to convert a lot of chances at the moment.
Couch Potato
I think he is a has been, but maybe he would have a point to prove- he's not, if he came to Burnley.
Grimsby Claret
Maybe he would make the difference we need to kick on
Totally_Claret
An old'un but a good 'un.
RickersTwickers
I would like to see where he would fit in with one up front? still a good player though...

You could be right CP - the man to take the chances we create!
Claretdale
Wouldn't be a great choice for 4-5-1?

turfmanphil
