Clarets International-What happened to our lot?

Stuart Pearce's England Under 21 team played two crucial games against Romania during the international break and they needed to win this two-leg play-off if they were to qualify for the Under 21 European Championships to be held in Denmark next summer.

In the first leg, played at Carrow Road, they secured a 2-1 victory but Jack Cork selected for the squad did not see much action. He came on in the last minute of added time replacing Jack Wilshere.

Four days later they played the return leg in Botosani, Romania and played out a goalless draw. Cork was once again on the bench but this time he saw a little more action coming on to earn his eighth cap for the Under 21s with ten minutes to play.

The draw though ensured England U21 qualified for Euro 2011 winning 2-1 on aggregate.

Scotland in their first European Championship qualifier of the break faced the Czech Republic in Prague

Chris Iwelumo replaced QPR`s Jamie Mackie in the 76th minute but Scotland were beaten 1-0.

Iwelumo was not even on the bench for Scotland's next European Championship qualifing match against Spain at Hampden Park but once again the Scots suffered disappointment losing the match 2-3 despite coming back from two goals behind.

David Edgar still awaits his first cap for Canada. He failed to play any part in their 2-2 friendly draw against Ukraine in Kiev.

A rib injury was a concern for Andre Bikey has he travelled out to Cameroon for their Africa Nations Qualifying game against the DR Congo. In the end he just trained with his compatriots and didn`t even make the bench. Cameroon were only able to pick up a point in a surprise 1-1 draw in Garoua. Bikey remains a doubt for the Clarets game against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane this Saturday and faces a late fitness test.
