'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McDonald Steels Himself for The Iron!

Kevin McDonald has joined Championship rivals Scunthorpe United on a month`s loan.

The Scotland Under 21 international midfielder moves to Glanford Park hoping for the chance of more regular competitive football playing for 'The Iron'

Brian Laws talking about the move said:

"It does them a favour but it does us a favour. Kevin needs to get some games.

"They play a style of football that will suit Kevin down to the ground so it`s a great move for him as well.

"He`s playing in the Championship so we can keep a close eye on him and I can keep a close eye on him because I live around the corner! He`s not disappearing too far."

McDonald looks to be the first of up to three fringe players who could be leaving Turf Moor on loan with David Edgar being another possible loan after yesterday's news.

It is thought that Laws hopes to complete another two loan deals by the end of today.

McDonald, 21, has played just the once for Burnley so far this season, coming off the bench to score in Burnley`s Carling Cup win at Morecambe back in August.

Not unexpected of course, wonder who else will be off. Edgar probably plus one other?

Alex MacDonald? Kevin Long? Richard Ecekersley?

Good move Kev - Now upto him to prove he deserved a place in OUR side, or at the very least squad. I would imagine Edgar & Eckersley will both move on today ( loans).
Claretdale
Sorry but i don't agree with it so we let Big Kev go on loan but we keep Grezza on the bench who is struggling to pass a ball when in the team does not make sense to me. If we get promotion what happens then keep putting Grezza on the bench or does he hang is boots up lets be honest who's the future Kev or Grezza.

Looks like Kevin Long is off to Accy on loan, not sure if that will be it!-BBC Sport:Accrington Stanley are set to sign Burnley's Republic of Ireland Under-21 defender Kevin Long on a month's loan.

The future is Kev I agree Fedup - Which is exactly why I think him being able to play some first team games on loan at Scunny is spot on.
Claretdale
McCann too is apparantly making quicker progress and could be ready to play earlier than expected but then the club have said that before and look what happened! It might though be behind some of the thinking to let Kev go out on loan. We certainly seem to have a surplus of midfielders
turfmanphil
I understand the logic but the point i'm trying to make lets get Grezza on the coaching staff and lets get Kev Mac on the bench and give him some play time with Burnley.
Fedupclaret
The problem with that Fedup, in my opinion, is that he may only get 2 hours a month playing from the bench. If he is to go out on loan, he could be playing more than that every week. That way we can perhaps find out if he really is going to be good enough for Burnley.
Claretdale
By all accounts he got injured in training and was not even in the eighteen for Scunthorpe on Saturday. That's all we need!
