'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reading about Big Kev Not Home and a Loan!

Big Kev has struggled to make it into the first team this season and is not even in Brian Laws` current plans as far as the eighteen is concerned. He has only played 23 minutes of football this season, and that was in a Carling Cup against Morecambe although he also actually scored in that game too!

Laws has recently announced that he has plans to seek a loan move for McDonald to give him the chance to play in more competitive games.

'Kevin has maybe fallen from grace a wee bit,' Laws told the club's official website last month

'He has found himself out of the first XI and difficult to get on the bench - that's how difficult it is to break into this squad.

'The competition in midfield is as intense as anywhere and everyone is performing well.

'That makes it difficult to involve Kevin in some capacity, so we have talked about getting him out on loan if we can and we are actively trying to do something.'

Rumour is rife on Clarets forums that Reading could be interested in taking the midfielder to the Madejski but there is as yet no indication in the media that this has any element of truth.

Makes you realise the depth of quality we have in the midfield area especially when you think Chris McCann is also on the sidelines recovering from long-term injury.

I still believe Kev Mc could be a very good player, but would say something isnt right. Maybe he just needs a bit of guidance? For me, A loan move is a positive thing. Get him some first team football under his built, build his confidence up and hopefully when he comes back we have the Kev Mc I am sure he can be!

Have we got the quality in midfield as everyone thinks? McCann if he plays this season will only be a few games and it will take him some time to get match fit. Alexander must be his last season seems to be struggling, Marney ok in the championship Elliott really not a midfielder but does ok Cork good prospect but we need to sign him in January, i don't class Eagles or Wallace as midfielders in midfield you need to be able to graft and tackle same as for Pato and Jrod. Harvey has not got the experience so that leaves big Kev, come Chrimbo players suspended and we only need a couple of injuries in midfield and that leaves us short. Then if we get promotion thats an all new ball game.

The talk is only about him going on loan fedup - If he goes out on loan, gets a few games under his belt and is playing well, could be very useful to have that player back when the injuries/suspensions kick in rather than one who hasnt played for XXX.

Agree dale about big kev but just pointing out that we have not got that many option in mid field so why not get him on the bench and start giving him play time in our team.
Fedupclaret
I see what you are saying and agree to a certain extent, but just cannot see how it would happen at the moment. I would personally have big Kev on the bench instead of Cort, but then again if we had done that yesterday we would have been struggling. I just dont think Kev features in the plans at the current time and in the event of an injury to one of the current 4 cm's ( Grezza, Marney, Cork, Wade), he may even bring Edgar closer to the first team than Kev. If Kev can go out on loan and show what I think he can do, It may give BL a re-think?
