Youth Team News

Burnley U18 3-0 Chesterfield U18

The Clarets are through to the second round of the Youth Alliance League Cup after comprehensively beating Chesterfield 3-0 at Gawthorpe yesterday.

The victory was also sweeter bearing in mind that until this clash Chesterfield had been undefeated all season.

The game was done and dusted in the first half-hour with all three of our goals coming in that period.

With just five minutes on the clock, Shay McCartan cut-in thumping a 25 yard screamer into the bottom of the net.

One minute later and our lead was doubled when Joe Jackson got on the end of a David Lynch cross to head home.

Jackson then got his brace on 29 minutes. Our keeper,Josh Cooke had cleared the ball long up the pitch and Jackson ran through to score.

Our keeper was on top form and Tom Anderson was solid as a rock in defence. The defence held firm for the rest of the match to make it a comfortable win.

Cooke, Williams (Edwards 58) Woods, Coleman, Anderson, Lynch, McCartan (Hewitt 68), Love (Mullin 68), Jackson, McKee, Wilson

Subs unused: Yadolahi, T.Taylor, Woodhead

Youth Team Fixture Changes

The Clarets youth team will now play their away game against Bury on the 9th October. The match has been brought forward from the 20th November and will now be played at Rossendale United`s ground, Dark Lane.

The fixtures against Carlisle United have also been reversed so our game on the 16th October will now be played away with our home match now on the 8th January 2011.

Sounds like this was a good win for the young guns considering that Chesterfield were undefeated up until the game
