Rumour Mill-James Vaughan on Loan?

Everton manager David Moyes is ready to let striker James Vaughan go out on loan and Burnley along with Sheffield United are understood to be interested.

It had been thought he would move to a new club permanently in the Summer Transfer Window which closed last week but that never happened so now Moyes wants the 22 year old striker to go out on loan and playing first team football before the next opportunity to sell the player in January.

It is understood though that Everton want the club to pick up his £15,000/week salary during the loan spell so the calculator will no doubt be out at Turf Moor if the speculation is true. Hopefully the formulas used will be more ambitious than the one used on the Blades calculator! In fact now we have gone down stronger, I hope by now they have replaced last season's Abacus with a calculator since speed will be of the essence and hopefully not Gary Speed!

Vaughan came through Everton's youth system signing his first professional contract in 2004. An England Under 21 international he has had two loan spells away from the club. He joined Derby County on loan in September 2009 but surgery to fix a slight cartilage tear meant his recall. He returned to fitness in January 2010 scoring his first goal after his injury against Burnley. A one month loan to Leicester City followed which was extended to the end of the season.

With Vaughan not named in Everton's 25 man squad, he faced a life in the Reserves so it remains to be seen whether he has caught the eye of Brian Laws.

Seems rather injury prone and not that prolific a goal-scorer? [Edited by turfmanphil]

Don't think the Club will break the wage structure for Vaughan then there his previous injury record.

Agree with that analysis, but if the club really wants a player I sometimes think they are dazzled by financial frugality so much they often miss out with clubs coming in and doing the business over their heads!

Agree with TMP and Fedup - I think he was on loan at somewhere last season ( Maybe Leicester?) and I dont remember hearing many rave reviews about him. I dont think he would be worth £15k a week.

Not going to happen according to Chris Boden in BE (Tue 7th Sep):SPECULATION linking Everton striker James Vaughan with a loan move to Burnley is wide of the mark. Reports in the national press at the weekend suggested the Clarets, as well as Championship rivals Sheffield United, were keen on taking the 22-year-old once the emergency loan window opens for Football League and Conference clubs tomorrow. However, a club source dismissed the story, saying: "There is absolutely nothing in it." .......

Crystal Palace are close to landing Everton striker James Vaughan on loan.

Vaughan has now signed for Palace so that's the end of that one. Who's next on the rumour mill?
