Burnley X-Files: Nimani on loan to Nantes

Former Clarets loan and 21 year old Monaco striker and winger Frédéric Nimani has joined Ligue 2 outfit Nantes on loan. Nantes finished 15th in Ligue 2 last season.

Clarets fans saw very little of Nimani last season after the club signed him on loan from Monaco during the January 2010 Transfer Window. He signed a five-months loan deal with the Clarets and there was a suggestion that there was also an option to buy the player and pay Monaco 4 million Euros in the summer after the loan spell .

In the event it all fizzled out with Nimani failing to impress and being named on the bench just three times whilst never making the starting eleven. He made his debut away to Bolton coming on as a substitute in the 66th minute. It was clear he was not fully match fit and he struggled to make an impression. He was an unused sub in the next game at home to Chelsea and his last appearance for the Clarets first-team was away to Aston Villa in February this year when he came on from the bench after 70 minutes.

He returned to Monaco in the summer at the end of the 2010-11 season.

We certainly seem to have come a cropper with our overseas signings. Nimani, Penny, Guerrero, van der Schaaf, Berisha. Is that telling us something about doing our homework properly?
turfmanphil
we need to do exactley that, everytime i saw Nimani he appeared to trip ove the ball, Guerreo was a skillfull player but ran around in circles like a wound up toy, Penny well that was an unfortunate situation was not good enough
Albmaleaf claret
I had pretty much forgotten about him. You are right TMP about our overseas signings not meeting the grade -How many have we actually signed who have been. Arthur? Surely their must be more than that and i am just having a bank holiday blank moment.

jean louis valois!

Would be nice to get a Portuguese lad in....... http://vodpod.com/watch/4241475-laionel-v-benfica Brazilian bench warmer due to us only playing normally one up front.

To be fair Nimani was a no risk gamble, his wages weren't that much and it could have worked out but it didn't, unlike Penny, van der Schaaf, Berisha all whom were signed to deals and never got a look-in. boltonclaret I thought Valois was a good player at times, he could certainly give us something different and could play on either wing.

Despite his abysmal track record at signing overseas players who have both first and last names ending in the letter 'o', I see that *oyley has signed forward Rodrigo Moreno from Benfica for Blonto on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance. I hope that's not the Portuguese lad VR was talking about!
Couch Potato
It is certainly not! The lad Notlob have got did not play any games for Benfica last season or is he any great shakes.........cue a great signing! Is more a Guerrero type signing i.e. fingers crossed he is ok dob 6/3/91 Height 1.8 mtrs weight 70kg previous clubs include Celta Vigo B, Real Madrid C and B and no full games for them either! I can do stats and info on any Portuguese liga players! lol

Yeah I liked Valois a lot when he showed the effort. Sadly he often looked disinterested in the low profile games and he was rather inconsistent.
turfmanphil
The problem with Valois was he couldn't last 90mins. I remember at Colchester he had an absolute blinder (the only time i saw him play).
ruane
He always played well in the high profile games. The 1-0 Liverpool Cup win at Turf Moor for example (Traore og etc)
turfmanphil
the Traore og - What memories!! :-)

4 million Euros, never in a million years is Nimani worth that, 500k at the most.
