Reserves Football is Coming Home to Turf Moor

Many Clarets fans will be relieved to hear that at long last our home Reserves fixtures will be returning to Turf Moor on a permanent basis.

There has been considerable problems using the Crown Ground at Accrington Stanley and their pitch is still not totally fit to play on despite their pitch improvement programme. Numerous games last season had to be postponed due to the inclement weather making the pitch unplayable.

Already this season pitch problems have affected our 'home' fixture against Oldham Athletic which has now been switched with the 'away' date and will now be played as an 'away' fixture at Stalybridge tomorrow.

The good news too is that our own pitch improvements have now been completed allowing the Reserves announcement to be made.

The club have also announced that this season the second-string will not be entering any cup competitions.

Great news!

I remember as a young lad going to watch reserve games for free and sitting in the BLS feeling very important. Hope the pitch can stand up to all these extra fixtures. And welcome back TMP - sorry to hear you haven't been too well of late.

Cheers RT. Aye I remember Reserves games in the 60s-70s, they used to alternate with the first team every Saturday. Some second string matches got attendances in the region of 15,000. Amazing!

Not clear to me if this will be just for this season or whether they would then consider Accy again if they can sort out their ground for next season
