'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Poll Result: Can We do a Watford?

Watford have really done something for football in the last twelve months. At the end of the 04/05 season, the Hornets were in 18th place in the Championship, with a young, untried manager, and doom merchants hanging over the club like vultures in the Sahara.

In just one year, Watford have shown that clever management, and a bright, young hungry squad, anything can happen in football. Third place was achieved in the final standings, and accomplished 3-0 playoff victories at Crystal Palace in the semi final, and Leeds at the Milennium Stadium has seen Watford back among the elite in the promiseland of the Premiership.

Vital Burnley noted that rise, and asked you, the fans if you thought Burnley could 'do a Watford' and shoot up the league after a 17th placed finish this season.

Whereas only 14% of you said yes with the squad as it is now, and impressive 55% of Vital Burnley readers believe with a couple of good signings, the Clarets could replicate the heroics of Aidy Boothroyd and make a push for the playoffs next season.

There were 31% of people who disagreed, believing that we can't make a push next season, but with 69% of you believing that we either can, or can with a few acquisitions make a playoff push, it shall be interesting to see which players enter the Turf Moor doors during the summer.

Who do YOU think those players should be? Who do YOU hope will come to Turf Moor, and help us kick on next season. Post your comments, and use our forums to discuss anything you hear, hope or hope not to happen.

Well we do need some strengthening in certain positions and need to see some new faces coming into the squad pretty quickly! I hope some of the 'pleading poverty' claims again are a smokescreen because there is no way we can go through a season and push for the play-offs with the squad numbers we have at present!
