We have just announced our new Prediction League competition for 2010-11.
Hang on though you might be saying, who won the World Cup 2010 Prediction League then and for that matter the World Cup 2010 Sweepstake? We let Dale, the organiser of the competition spill the beans:
With the World Cup now complete, and all predictions received and calculated, the winner of the first Vital Burnley World Cup Prediction League was Couch Potato
Having led from very early on in the competition, Couch held onto his position at the summit despite a late charge from Welsh Claret who finished third. 8c8 split the pair of them to take second place. The other big mover was the player dropping from a spot within the prizes, to 5th at the semi final stage Nice one ..er me Dale!
Again, the majority of people predicting during this tournament struggled to average a point a game in other words, they couldn`t pick the right team to win. Is this because of the unpredictable nature of this World Cup? Or does it just go to prove that football really is a 'funny old game`? Trying to predict the outcome is not so simple!
Well done CP! CP has also generously donated his £50 winnings to Clarets Trust
8Clarets8 also wins £25 for coming second and Welsh Clarets picks up a tenner for finishing in third place.

The final Prediction League table is provided below:

So what about the World Cup Sweepstake? 8Clarets8 who organised the competition reveals the winners:
It was a case of VinRogues' Holland nil and Richcshaws' Spain nil after 90 minutes in the World Cup Final with the Spaniards of course then winning 1-0 in extra-time to become World Champions 2010.
Not the best of finals was it? Plenty of stop start, yellow cards a plenty.
Richchaw though won't be too bothered about that and wins 1st place grabbing himself a Vital Burnley mug and a Wiseman book.
In second place therefore is Vin Rogue and he wins a Vital Burnley mug and a copy of 'Burnley-The greatest team of all'
Third place goes to Couch Potato for picking out Uruguay so he wins a Vital Burnley mug. (Editor`s Note: Yeah we know, Germany got third but 8C8 picked the Hun and felt sorry for CP!)
Sing sing Africa, I have enjoyed the World Cup and the sweepstake see you all at the Euros 2012

We leave the final word to Couch Potato, a winner of sorts in both competitions and we thank him once more for his kind donation to Clarets Trust:
Very generous of you 8c8 to forego a mug for your Germany beating my Uruguay into third. And personally I don't think there was any need to deny yourself the prize just because you organised the sweepstake. If Indeed the mug comes my way, it will be an even greater honour.
Anyway, if I have won the prediction league, which I think is the case, can the prize money please be given to the Clarets Trust, hopefully to help them buy more shares in the club, with the money going into a kitty to buy Forlan and Iniesta!
Seriously, if I have won money, please give it to the Trust.
I enjoyed the World Cup, Vital Burnley added to my enjoyment (even the humorous skullduggery over fixing points from the final!) and the purpose of Vital Burnley is to 'Hit the site and Help the club' by helping the Trust buy shares, with the purchase price ending up in the club's bank account
