Rumour Mill-The Ins, Outs and Already Gone!

The Ins?

Laws is understood to be close to signing Newcastle keeper, Fraser Forster on a season long loan and hopes to have him on board before the squad fly out to Singapore this Saturday. It looks like progress could be made today.

'I said on Saturday that we hoped to have further progress and I have done,' Laws told the media

'We have been in contact again and I am meeting the player on Wednesday. Hopefully we can get everything signed, sealed and delivered for our tour on Saturday.

'Fingers crossed, the talks and everything else will go well. Barring any disasters we are feeling pretty confident.'

Meanwhile another loan possibility could be young Belgian Manchester United defender, Ritchie de Laet who was linked with the Clarets over the weekend in Sunday's Daily Star along with new Premier League club,Blackpool. De Laet signed for Stoke City for an initial £100,000 fee in August 2007, from Belgian club Royal Antwerp, penning a three-year deal. In January 2009, De Laet was signed by Premier League champions Manchester United on a three-year contract. The 21 year old has made just three appearances for United since that time but it is understood Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to loan out the Belgian International

Laws though recently made a statement that he wuuld not be looking to sign any defenders although that could change if both Tyrone Mears and Andre Bikey leave Turr Moor.

The Outs?

Tyrone Mears was an alleged Owen Coyle target was but this looks to have been hogwash.

'There has been no offer for Tyrone and there won't be one,' Coyle told the Bolton Evening News.

Both West ham and Wigan have also been linked this week with a move for Andre Bikey

Chris Eagles continues to be in the limelight with rumours now that Rangers could land him for as little as £1million. It is understood the Gers could use the proceeds from the sale of Kevin Thomson to Middlesbrough to fund the deal. This would be the second Old Firm club to be linked with Eagles following specualtion recently that Celtic may also be interested. Eagles seems in demand all of a sudden with Blackpool looking to sign him on loan and Now Bolton inevitablly being linked with the winger.

The Already Gone!

Former Clarets captain, Steven Caldwell has been spotted training with his former mentor, Owen Coyle at Bolton but he is understood to be just passing through and keeping fit until someone comes in for him.

Meanwhile Stephen Jordan recently linked with a move to Palace could be a target by the manager that brought him to Turf Moor.Portsmouth's new manager Steve Cotterill is weighing up a move for the defender who is now a free agent and will likely appeal to cash-strapped Pompey. It is understood Portsmouth have taken Jordan on their tour of North America.

Has Mears and Bikey gone Hollins if they have i've not seen it anyway back to Eagles be sad to see him go north of the boarder, and if Mears and Bikey are on there way could it be worrying times for BL.

Well, just about recovered from the trauma of last season - hello to all again. It looks as if Eagles is on his way and that Mears and Biikey could also go, so I'm getting a bit concerned about the balance bewteen ins and outs. It seems to me that we could end up with a significantly weaker squad this season although I do look forward to seeing what Eckersley, Edgar and Easton can do. I thought Edgar looked good for the brief time he partnered Bikey at the back and that would be my preferred centre back pairing, although I don't think it will happen. I just hope that if the above 3 go we will look to replace them with at least equally talented individuals, although time will be running short. I also feel that Penny should at least have been given a chance to show what he could do. Good luck to him.

Beebwww now says Gers have been given permission by Bfc to put in a formal bid for Eagles, but that we don't need to sell and that Eagles has not put in a transfer request. Personally I think we can win games confortably without him, so, as he is in the last year of his contract, we should take a good offer if one comes along. Chris can do well in a team that dominates games, as Rangers do in the SPL, and as we can do in the Championship this year. But, after this year, I am not convinced he would be a player that would keep us in the PL, if we do manage to get back there. So, I'd be sorry, but not that sorry to see him go. On the other hand my sense is that to declare Mears and Bikey 'almost gone' is not yet based on any hard evidence.

CP - I agree with your post completely.

I'd be happy to let him go but we do need a replacement. Ive said all along I will judge our team at the end of the transfer window, hmmm. New right winger needed any ideas? Mears and Bikey have not gone yet, so lets wait and see on them.

I cannot understand Laws saying he is not looking for defenders. OK bring the youngsters in if they are thought good enough, but if so why not last season? I would have thought that a quality experienced central defender was something of a priority given the lapses of last season which cost us. I thought the squad was going to be strengthened using the parachute and any transfer money. My impression so far is that we are wanting to hang on to the money are and only preparing to stay in the Championship. Am I on my own in thinking that the idea was to get a sqad together capable of winning the Championship and then keeping us in the Premier.

Can anybody enlighten me as to the progress , financed by the improved financial situation, towards winning the Championship and remaining in the Premier.
