The Clarets defeated League One,Oldham Athletic 2-1 last night at Boundary Park in our second pre-season friendly despite going a goal behind with just five minutes played. We now have two pre-season friendly victories following our win at Gigg Lane on Saturday.
Burnley left it late though against the Latics scoring two goals in the last ten minutes of the match.
A through ball by Fox on 82 minutes found Thompson who chipped home from 12 yards to score. This was Thommo's second goal of the pre-season so far after also getting one at Gigg Lane on Saturday.
Three minutes later and Paul Dichov's men were stunned by another Burnley goal.A free kick taken by Alexander found Cort at the far post who rose the highest to head home across the keeper.
It might have been even better news for the Clarets had Iwelumo not fluffed a penalty after 15 minutes. His left footed low shot was saved by the keeper after Rod Mcdonald had brought down Eckerley in the box.
Once again Laws gave most of his squad a chance to play with only Martin Paterson (Achilles tendon)and Tyrone Mears still suffering from a slight hamstring injury missing out.
The line-up he started with this time was:
Jensen; Eckersley, Duff, Carlisle, Easton; Marney, Rodriguez, McCann, Elliott, Eagles; Iwelumo
For the second half things were changed around as expected and we lined up as follows:
Jensen, Fox, Cort, Bikey,Edgar, Alexander, McDonald, Elliott, Wallace, Rodriguez, Thompson.
After 75 minutes Alex-Ray Harvey also came on to replace Elliott together with Wes Fletcher who replaced Rodriguez.
2-1 final score then and a good end for the 1038 Clarets fans who made the short journey to Oldham. The Clarets now prepare for their Singapore tour which starts this Saturday
