Rumour Mill-Jason Scotland In for Mears Out?

Rumour Mill-Jason Scotland In for Mears Out?

Burnley might be about to sign Wigan striker, Jason Scotland and could offer unsettled defender,Tyrone Mears as part of the deal.

Who says so? Alan Nixon in the Mirror so it could well be true!

Scotland will have to do better than he did last season for Wigan in the Premier League.

The 31 year old Trinidad and Tobago international lost his scoring touch last season after joining his former Swansea boss, Roberto Martinez at Wigan. He managed just one goal in over 30 appearances for Wigan compared to a scoring rate of almost 1 goal every two matches whilst at Championship Swansea

Swansea agreed to sell Scotland for £2 million to Wigan Athletic in July 2009 with the Clarets also at that time trying to secure his signature.

This could be an excellent signing but only if Scotland can recover his scoring form in the Championship but it would be at the expense of losing Mears who has made it plain he wants to play in the Premier League. Nothing you can do if a player is determined to move on, but we could be weak in the right back area if he leaves although Richard Eckersley could be about to be given his chance and of course Michael Duff is also an option in that position

Would be a snub to Coyle who is keen on Mears if this deal goes through!

Tyrone Mears in part ex for Scotland? I would want Scotland in part ex for Mears as well as a sizeable chunk of Trinadad.

Official site saying that they could see another player sign in the next 48 hours but also say that it will not be Jason Scotland.

:-) Claude - Although I agree with your point. To be honest - I would not be upset to start the season with the 4 strikers we currently have.

Agree with Dale do we need another striker, if and when Mears goes lets get the 3m and decide if we need another right back or any player that will better the squad.

On the other side Fed up, If Pato for example was to get injured again early doors - That would leave us with Thommo, Iwelumo and Jay Rod - I assume we will not see Thommo and Iwelumo together that often which would mean Jay Rod as a regular starter. Is he ready for that? I am now doubting my own statement! :-)

I'm happy with what we already have too tbh. I think Laws sees Paterson as a winger however so that would make it 3. If we were to go for another forward I would prefer somebody other than Jason Scotland. I'm not his biggest fan. Most important hole for me now is in net. I reckon a keeper is who Laws was referring to on the club site.

Dale you can say that about any position if someone gets injured, if we get Scotland thats five strikers, like Claude says is Pato a winger? we all ready have three wingers Elliott Eagles Wallace. I would hope Pato will be up front with one of the big lads and if he gets injured and Jrod is not performing there is the loan player route.

There's also the January window, and Wes Fletcher, fedup. People seem to think Little Mac has gone off the boil, though. True? Looking elsewhere on the pitch, have we got enough left-sided players now? And are we going to tackle more than we did last year? Can that be changed by coaching?

I agree with you Claude part ex for Mears they should be paying us for taking him off there hands. He was a complete flop in the prem for Wigan why would we still intrested in him????. that said if Mears wants to go to the Prem let him just not to Notlob!!
