Laws on Wallace the Third!

Brian Laws frustrated by the financial obstacles put in place by Hearts following his attempts to sign Andrew Driver has instead this week changed tack and been successful today in signing 25 year old Scottish international, Ross Wallace from local rivals, Preston North End for an undisclosed fee.

He has penned a three-year deal.

'We are delighted to have secured the signing of Ross,' Laws told the club's official website.

'He is one of the best left-sided players in the Championship and having him here will add even more to a strong midfield department.

'He is a natural left-sided player and I am sure he will make an immediate impact with the supporters with his ability to manoeuvre the ball and the quality of his delivery.

'He will give us an added balance to the team and I am delighted with this bit of business in getting a player who I believe will be coming to his peak.'

He will wear squad number 22.

Wallace joined Preston from Sunderland initially on loan in 2008 before signing a permanent four-and-a-half year contract at Deepdale in January 2009

He started his professional career with Celtic in 2002 before joining the Black Cats in August 2006 along with teammate and former Clarets loan,Stanislav Varga.

That looks to be our interest in Driver and Whittingham over then? Brother-in-Law Preston fan is not happy!! about time we had a left footed winger.

come on clarets, imagine with cork and maynard. the good will out

Excellent this - hopefully his discipline will improve now he is a bit older. A goalie, and for me, a centre back IF Bikey isn't intended to be played there. Then we will be a good side.

A good signing, but I didn't even know we were after him until yesterday ! Will we now have to paint our faces blue and chant 'Wallace' from the stands? I hope Laws keeps a brave heart and continues to chase Whittingham. Lookin' good so far.

Let's be honest he wasn't our first choice but at least he is a good second choice or maybe even third choice if we have given up on Peter Whittingham too.

Also think this is a good signing. Interesting that the article says he will wear number 22 - Did i miss the other squad numbers getting announced?
