Rumour Mill-Celtic Spot Eagles on Radar

Celtic are understood to be interested in 24 year old Clarets winger Chris Eagles. The Scottish Sun believe he could be a possible replacement for Aiden McGeady and reports that the Glasgow club could even offload Georgios Samaras to Europa League winners Atletico Madrid to fund the move.

The paper also states that the asking price could be just £1.5 million which if true will disappoint a number of Clarets fans.

Burnley sources are also understtod to have confirmed Celtic's interest.

Eagles has hinted all along that he would prefer to play in the Premier League mnxt season in order to realise his ambitions so a potential move to the SPL might be seen as a retrograde step albeit a prestigious move considering the club involved.

Everton and Spurs were two Premier League clubs linked with the player amongst others but speculation recently has been quiet.

Clarets fans need some good news on the transfer front with Robbie Blake the latest to leave Turf Moor after joining Bolton yesterday on a free transfer. That move will surely stick in the throat of a number of Clarets considering the venom and bile still surrounding the Owen Coyle saga and the love we had for Robbie. We continue to have disappointment after disappointment so far and that third signing of the summer seems some distance away. We have been rejected by Billy Sharp and Hearts have priced Andrew Driver out of the market so much that Brian Laws has now said he will not increase his offer and instead will look elsewhere.

I am not sure how much we can expect for Eagles - I know it was always said to be £3m+ but has he proved he is worth this? He does have signs of potential but I am still not sure.

Totally agree Dale reguarding Eagles, and according to some reports we are now looking at Ross Wallace well if thats going down stronger we have a problem.

I share the ambivalence about Eagles. Would we want to resign him a year from now if we went up? I am not sure. Would he stay if we didn't? I think he'd look for a fresh start on a Bosman. So, it feels a bit as though we should accept reasonable offers. I am cheerier than fedup about Wallace.

CP i feel we should be looking for a better quality of players which will give us a better chance of stopping in the prem thats if we go up.
Fedupclaret
I dont know much about Wallace but though that most of the reports about him have been positive. At least, with the links with Wallace, Driver & Whittingham one of the main areas requiring attention has certainly been identified. When was the last time we had a consistently good left sided midfielder - Eyresy?

Eagles is worth moe than a million and a half surely.
