Blake signs for Bolton

According to the Bolton News, Robbie Blake has rejoined his former boss, Owen Coyle and left Turf Moor for the Reebok on a free transfer. He therefore becomes the first player to move between the two clubs since Coyle left in January.

If the report is true it will also be disappointing for Clarets fans to learn that he has only signed a one-year deal with the Premier League side after turning down a similar deal with the Clarets which also included an additional one year option if he started 20 games next season.

The 34-year-old by all accounts agreed terms last night but it seems his determination to hold out for a two year contract may have been a bit of a red herring. He had been linked with a move to Hearts last week after a two year contract had been put on the table but it would appear the lure of Premier League football proved too much for Robbie!

I think this suggests what the real problem has been all along!

According to the BN Blake will be officially unveiled tomorrow

Definitely TMP. If the 2 year deal was the core issue, why has he signed a 1yr deal at Bolton, where he will be spending most of the time on the bench? He will also be in competition for a starting place with fellow new boy Martin Petrov, amonst others. Clearly he simply does not rate nor want to work with Brian Laws. Mark my words Robbie will be back in the Championship on loan in Jan 2011, after failing to command a starting place at BW.

He may well have been sincere about the 2 year thing - but Bolton may well be paying him in one year what would have been two years wages. Robbie will have evaluated his options - and if the end result does not match his original aspiration, it doesn't mean that he wasn't being honest in the first place.

Agree NP - I think people are jumping to conclusions here. I think this is a bad move for Robbie. Yes he is in the Premier League, but his game time will surely be low. As much as i like Robbie - At no stage in his career as he proved himself to be consistently premier league quality.

i want a 2 year deal, oh OC bum bum bum, thanks for the memories but not for the 1st time you leave us to go and sit on the bench, the good will out and burnley are the good

Really disappointed to hear this news , if it's true. At this stage in his career, he's not going to turn down what is presumably a significant increase in bucks, and probably some kind of promise ffrom OC that he's going to get games, or a regular part of games in the premiership. He's still Robbie , and this won't affect my memories of him at the Turf. Still wish he'd signed for us though , he'd have been a star in the championship . . . oh well .

He leaves just like Horse face imo, fed us a pack of lies and has backed a year of PL wages at Horwich and a year of ?? wages after being released against the probability of 2 years at the Turf a coaching role and true Claret Legendary Status. I guess just like Horse Face the money is the true factor and we the supporters should not believe what we read from our beloved heros!

Please dont kid yourself that a 34 year old who came off the bench 11 times last year will be on a massive hike in his wages by joining OC. Judas will know what he was on at the Clarets so will not paying over the odds. The simple fact is that he didnt want to play for Laws and would prefer to have splinters in his red underpants next year, rather than figting for his place. No tears here; we have seen the best of Robbie Blake.

well he's signed for them but wasn't it Judus that left him on the bench in the first place....for some reason i can't see anything different for him.

We shouln't be too disappointed. Look at the table on the right. We're already in a play-off berth and well set to challenge for automatic promotion. Fair play, Palace have done well too considering their off-field difficulties.
RickersTwickers
Yeah, it's a shame we couldn't spell it 'Baaurnley' RT , we'd be motoring before we even hit the ground. :-)
WelshClaret
You can have him back...

Em true I can't imagine Bolton fans to be exactly enamoured by this signing, muur!
