Rumour Mill-May as Well Link Coyle to Blake!

Rumour Mill-May as Well Link Coyle to Blake!

Robbie Blake having turned down a new contract at Burnley is seeking a move to another club, preferably not one in the Championship so that would appear to rule out Preston one of the clubs reported to be interested in signing the 34 year old,

He has since been linked with a move to Premier League new boys, Blackpool and only last week was reported to be in talks with SPL club,Hearts who would appear to be willing to offer him a two-year deal.

Burnley were only willing to offer Blake a one year deal with the option of a one year extension providing he made 20 starts next season. Despite turning down the offer, Brian Laws continues to hope Robbie will have a last minute change of heart and agree a new deal.

The chances of that happening may have worsened in the light of todays speculation in the Daily Mail.

It would now appear Owen Coyle might be tempted to bring his former player to the Reebok but let's face it, most of our players have been linked with a move to Bolton in the media and so far none have actually done so! We may have to similarly treat this Blake rumour with a huge pinch of salt!

Laws though and Clarets fans need some good news on the transfer front soon. We have yet to add to our two summer signings of the season (Marney and Iwelumo) as well as find another high-quality striker to replace Steven Fletcher. Billy Sharp has turned down an offer to join his former boss at Turf Moor instead preferring to have another go at resurrecting his career at Sheffield United. Hearts too are digging their heels in over Andrew Driver and looking for an increased straight offer of £3-3.5 million with no strings attached.

Nothing seems to be happening about Cardiff's Peter Whittingham after the Bluebirds turned down our initial bid and Jack Cork's future at Chelsea is also up in the air regarding a potential loan move to Burnley with Robbie Blake also looking almost certain to leave the club.

Brian Laws has made it plain he wants all his new squad sorted out before the Singapore Tour which starts on Saturday 17th July. Time is running out fast and we now need a spate of signings in the next couple of weeks if we are to meet that target.

I am not too worried about strikers, my main concern is a number one. I still feel we need a new keeper more than we need another striker. In midfield we still have? McCann, Elliot, Alexander, Eagles, McDonald, Marney. That feels a bit light unless we can get Cork and an other. I may have missed someone....its my age......Bikey lol.........DOCTOR
