Rumour Mill-Clarets in Toon wth Keeper, Forster!

22 year old Newcastle United keeper, Fraser Forster is understood to be on Brian Laws radar with a view to a season-long loan.

The stopper has yet to make his debut for Newcastle but has had a number of spells out on loan. He played an handful of games for both Stockport County and Bristol Rovers before joining Championship new boys, Norwich City on loan in November 2009 until the end of the season.

He played 38 games for the Canaries in their promotion season from League 1 and made a big impression keeping a clean sheet in half of the games played.

He was named Norwich's Players Player of the Year 2010 and he also came second in the Supporters Player of Year awards.

It is no secret with Diego Penny out of favour that the Clarets are seeking a new keeper to partner Brian Jensen. The Beast signed a new contract in the summer.

We had been linked with Owls keeper,Lee Grant,Steve Simonsen at Stoke and Wolves' Wayne Hennessey but none of these have come to fruition with Burnley's attention now on Forster.

It is understood Mick McCarthy was not willing to let Hennessey out on loan for more than 3 months despite speculation that he may have been offered as a season-long loan as part of a deal that would eventually take Steven Fletcher to Molineux.

Not as high profile as the other keepers we had been linked to and would think he would be understudy to Jensen on that basis

Not sure about this one played well at Norwich by all accounts but I would also see him as number 2 goalkepper.

Are all the other rumoured deals actually dead, or just on ice, with one of them possibly going to re-emerge late in the window, whether through us or other clubs or players' agents reactivating them? I am not sure that any of us can know this for certain.

I hope thats the case TMP, imo he's not even close to getting 1st team place with the Beast still there.
