Rumour Mill-Blake to be Blackpool's Rock?

Robbie Blake turned down the offer of a new contract with Burnley in midweek after seeking a straight two-year deal.

Brian Laws had offered a one year contract with an option to extend for 12 months subject to appearances but Blake spurned the offer.

Laws though did leave the door open if Blake decided to change his mind.

Now it would appear that Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is set for talks with Blake which could see him return immediatly to the Premier League.

It would appear Blake does not want to to sign for another club in the same division as the Clarets which rules out Preston North End who are believed to have made an unsuccessful attempt to lure him to Deepdale.

SPL club,Hearts were also linked but Blake would surely find it hard to turn down any offer which could see him playing in the English top flight again next season.

I suspect that, if it were Burnley looking to buy Robbie at this stage of his career to play in the PL, there would be fans saying that Burnley were showing a lack of ambition.

Agree CP, Not sure it would be a good move for Robbie if he is looking for 'game time' either.
Claretdale
Agree I think you are both right only time will tell.

I love Robbie so I'm biased but he would be a good signing for them. He has experience and class and as Blackpool don't play a system that insists that their wingers be full backs as well then he should do well. Blackpool are going to operate on a lot less money than Burnley did in the Prem (yes, tmp, another side showing a 'lack of ambition)' - they have said that loan signings would be their main source of new players - then Robbie would be a good pick I think. Hope he does sign and does well and shows Laws wrong for not signing him up. If Alexander deserved 2 years then so did Robbie.

Good luck if this is Robbies destiny, but I am not convinced it would be the right move especially if we are to believe all the reports on why he has not signed our contract offer.
VinRogue
Good luck to him either way, i also echo Claretdale would he get a game?

ozjean - In effect I was offered a 2 year deal. If he played 20 games next season he would have been granted the second year. If he doesnt play 20 games, he wasnt worth a 2 year contract.
Claretdale
ozjean-did you sign your contract? Will you be commuting back and forth from Oz? :-)
boltonclaret
I for one would love to meet ozjean as I reckon she knows a thing or two about all things claret and would be great to debate with. So let us know when that commute is happening and we can have a Vital Forum
VinRogue
I was joking because Ozjean said "I was offered a 2 year deal"

I would love to meet all you guys for a chat - we come over to the UK nearly every year and we have recently retired so have more time. Years ago we came over and met a lot of the Clarets Mad bloggers at the Sparrow Hawk. Had a few bottles of red and got so drunk we all had to stay the night at the pub! Good times and you don't need to be in the Premier League (in football or in life!) to have them! Ross (my Aussie but Claret loving husband) are off to SA for the World Cup on Saturday - to support Australia not England. Keep an eye out for an Aussie flag with 'WEST AUSTRALIAN CLARETS' AND 'BURNLEY FC' on it and 'Owen Coyle' in one of the stars - now crossed out!
