Rumour Mill-Burnley and Bogdanovic

30 year old striker Daniel Bogdanovic is attracting interest from a number of clubs

Bogdanovic is available as a free agent after his contract with Barnsley expired at the end of the 2009/10 season.

He turned down their offers of a new deal and it was revealed last week that the Maltese international was holding talks with Sheffield United..

Whilst the Blades will be hopeful of securing a deal, other clubs have now reportedly entered the arena and one interested club would appear to be the Clarets. Hull City and Swansea have also been linked whilst it is also understood that Italian and Greek clubs also have the striker on their radar.

Bogdanovic was born in Libya, to ethnic Serb parents but chose to represent Malta and in February 2002 made his international debut in a friendly against Jordan.

In his early career, Bogdanovic played for a number of Maltese football clubs over the period 2000-2007. These included Sliema Wanderers (3 spells), Naxxar Lions, Valletta and Marsaxlokk.

During this period he also played in Hungary for Vasas SC (2001-2)as well as for Bulgarian club, Cherno More (2003)

Whilst at Marsaxlokk, Bogdanovic scored 31 goals winning him the Golden Boot and also the Maltese Player of the Year in 2006-7. This was the same season that Marsaxlokk became champions of the Maltese Premier League for the first time in their history.

Bogdanovic decided not to renew his contract with Marsaxlokk at the end of the 2006-7 season and eventually joined Italian side Cisco Roma in time for the start of the new season.

In August 2008 Bogdanovic was on the move again signing a two-year deal with Bulgarian club Lokomotiv Sofia.

It was confirmed in January 2009 that Bogdanovic had signed for Barnsley for an undisclosed fee accepting a deal until 2010.

I have to say if we are losing Fletcher, none of the strikers we have so far been linked with could hold a candle to him!!

Agree Tmp if we lose Fletcher it could be a big blow to this season and the one's we are looking at to replace him are not giving me much excitement, I just hope the fans don't take it out on Laws and blame him.
Fedupclaret
I would guess we have to accept that if we lose Fletch to a PL club, we quite likley won't be bringing in anyone of the same PL calibre, unless they are young and unproven. I get a sense this particular story may be proof that there can be smoke without fire.
Couch Potato
We should stay well clear nowhere near good enough, we should be looking at the top scorers over the last couple of seasons.

I just hope Fletcher stays. Agree with the above comments, none of the replacement rumours do anything for me.
welshclaret
Fletcher says he wants to stay. The board say we don't have to sell. No problem. Are the board really serious about a quick return to the Prem or am I missing something here.
