Rumour Mill-Case of Billy Elliott and Sharp Wado

Rumour Mill-Case of Billy Elliott and Sharp Wado

Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp has been linked with Doncaster, Burnley and Leeds.

It is reported that Doncaster have already had a bid of £600,000 turned down but look likely to put in an.improved offer.

Leeds promoted to the Championship this season are said to be looking very closely at the situation and may be considering a bid.

It is thought Burnley's interest could be dependent on whether they can manage to retain top striker, Steven Fletcher.

Sharp taling about the interest from other clubs said:

'I've not heard anything from Leeds. I've just got back from my holiday but I heard Donny's offer was turned down. I'll speak to Sheffield United and we'll take it from there.'

He does not appear to have mentioned the Clarets interest!

Sharp cost the Blades £1.6m from Scunthorpe in July 2007. The 24 year old actually started his career with Sheffield United in 2002. After a spell on loan with Rushden&Diamonds he was sold to Scunthorpe United for £100,000 in August 2005 before later returning to Bramall Lane.

Doncaster could be favourites to sign the striker.Last summer on transfer deadline day Sharp signed for Doncaster on a season-long loan.

Meanwhile, Wade Elliott has been linked with a £3 million move to Upton Park.West Ham are currently without a manager although Avram Grant is expected to take over but they are are apparently interested in signing the 30 year old and hope that the chance to taste more of the Premier League football could entice him away. Elliott is on record though as saying he would like to see out his career with the Clarets.

Cannot see us getting £3m for Wade. Also not sure that Sharp is the player we need to replace Fletch ( If that is indeed the plan).

For what it's worth, I am possibly one of the few people who thinks Wade showed a big improvement in form once he had a player alongside him in the middle (Cork) who could play on his wavelength. Clearly Wade's form dropped before that, but even then - alongside mistakes - he often showed what he could do. But our central midfiled, both in terms of tackling and creativity, was a black hole in which his ability was left to rattle around. If he dwelt on the ball, maybe that was because people weren't making themselves available? I think you'll find he attempted more tackles than any other player for Bfc in the PL, if I remember the stats from the Spurs prog correctly. I would have loved to have seen him alongside Wilshere, though Cork proved Wilshere's equal (or near equal) when given the chance. Thery were terrific together against Spurs. The thing that doesn't make much sense to me in this story is that WHU doesn't have a manager. So I am left wondering if Wade's agent has started a rumour to encourage Laws to buy some quality central midfield players, because Wade is exhausted after carrying too much responsibility, without help? And to try to get Wade excused the salary cut that's quite probably in his contract for getting relegated? Regardless, I would guess that we'd all be in favour of Laws getting more bite and creativity in central midfield, whether we think Wado should play there or on the wing.

Laws should be looking for two quality players for midfield and if he can get Cork for 12 months thats a bonus, regarding Wade I do prefere him on the wing he's one of the best for crossing the ball but do you turn down £3m if the media is true.

I do like Wade and I would like him to stay. However if we got offered £3 Mill for him, you have to let him go. Thats great money, then go and buy driver and Boyd!
