Rumour Mill-Baggies Bikey as Black Cats Paw Eagles

Two of our players were linked with moves to Premier League clubs over the weekend.

Chris Eagles is expected to move on and has been linked with numerous Premier League clubs. The latest of these would appear to be Sunderland. The 24 year old former Manchester United winger has made it clear that he needs to play in the Premier League if he is to realise his ambitions.

Spurs, West Ham, Everton and West Brom have all been reported to have an interest in signing him and the Baggies are also believed to be interested in defender, Andre Bikey.

West Brom boss Roberto di Matteo is chasing the Cameroon international defender according to the News of the World.

Bikey,25 though still has two years left on his current contract at Turf Moor and it is understood the Clarets will be hoping to raise around 2.5m from any sale.

Just hope our 'Ins' can be sorted out quickly enough, if we lose any of these potential 'Outs' so that by time of season kick-off we have a depth of squad in quality and quantity that gives us the best chance possible of an instant return to the Prem.

Has Bikey stated that he wants to leave then ? If he's happy here, then we need to keep him for the back four.
welshclaret
Sadly, after last season I'm not that concerned about the inconsistent Eagles, I'd prefer to give that bloke from Posh a go on the wing and see if he can pot them for us as he did for them.
welshclaret
I don't want to sell Bikey. He is our best defender but Laws doesn't seem to think so. He thinks Cort is our best defender... oh dear.
ClaretClaude
Eagles can go for me - Great on his day but no enough days. Bikey has thrown a spanner in the works for me with his performance against Crouch. I would have been happy for him to leave because I think his concentration ( or lack of) could be very costly. I now think we should possibly be looking to build our defensive unit around him.
Claretdale
Got to agree folks for Eagles I'd let him fly the nest tomorrow for the right price someone must be telling him he's going to walk into the Prem not to sure myself. As for Bikey I would hope his name would be one of the first names on the team sheet for next season because if Cort plays before Bikey then there something sadly wrong in the dressing room, this could be a big mistake by Laws and BFC.

the biggest worry for me is the quality going out is not being replced with the standard of players being linked, eagles hasnt figured enough to miss if he was to go, blikey im not a massive fan, but he is the best defender we have
ClaretTricks
Great speculation, I spent yesterday with a Baggies season ticket holder and a PNE season ticket holder in Blackpool! Long story but the baggie was of the opinion that Bikey was not a target for WBA. He had the odd passionate story about close rivals who they call Midlands Dingles and suggested being a yo yo club doesn't satisfy the fans and they believe they would have stayed up last season if they had been amongst the contenders. As for discussions on Nugent, he did not want him back and was less than complimentary! All that tangerine and 2 out of the 3 of us were smiling! lol
VinRogue
we need to add to our squad not sell, if we do lose these two we need to sign 2 to replace them and 1 as cover
Totally_Claret
i dont want anyone in a bfc shirt who thinks they are bigger than the club and its ambitions, so fek of eagles your ust a poser who does not put a proper shift in, as for bikey his attitude stinks and he and cort should be shipped out, we need players who will give blood for the shirt aka duff and grezza, not players with big egos, let em go,
palsdad
I think Bikey will be good in the Championship and we should keep him. Eagles, I was a big fan but he does not seem to have the commitment to go with his natural talent, take the money.
cornwallclaret
We should try to keep Bikey, but he left Reading when they didn't get up, so he will probably leave this Summer or next should we not get back to the PL. 2.5 million is (probably) more than we paid for him - if that's the case, reinvest it in a 'keeper and QUICK centre-half. On those latter two players, does anyone have any suggestions? (I would be particularly interested to hear sensible and realistic suggestions about th CB...it's where I played as a youngster!)
whentheballmoves
Don't sit on the fence pd ;-) regarding Eagles the lad has talent but I think he thinks he has more talent than what he is capable of, delusions of champions league etc etc, He already has one foot out the door so he will go, I would like Bikey to still be around next season but in his natural role CB, he was not even in the Cameroon squad tonight that drew 0-0 with Georgia, is he injured or can we read something else into that?
8clarets8
A few years ago then eh Barnsey ( glad we arent playing tennis for a while ;-)) St Ledger may be a good shout for a CB but we been saying that for years. How about trying to get Mills from Reading ( unrealistic?) or a season long loan for someone like Ayala at Liverpool?
Claretdale
I think Bikey has the right attitude. He is passionate and he wants to play. He just hasn't had a suitable opportunity. Under Coyle he was moved to midfield as a result of injuries. You can't call him for a lack of effort here, as I challenge anyone his size to run up and down a pitch for 90 mins tirelessly. When the midfield had recovered Laws took over and I think they simply don't get on (like a number of other players ie. Blake, Gudjonnsen, Caldwell, Jordan, and Kev Mc perhaps?). Basically what I'm saying is I don't think Bikey's situation is his own fault and I would be very dissapointed to see him go. I agree with the sentiments on Eagles - for reasonable money he can go. Massively over-rated by everyone outside the club.
ClaretClaude
So we have discussed the outs but what about the In's ?
Grimsby Claret
Glad to hear that Thommo has agreed to stay, I think he'll play a big part next season.
