Rumour Mill-Clarets hope to Kilkenny?

24 year old midfielder, Neil Kilkenny is reported to be on Brian Laws rader today.

Burnley as well as QPR and Middlesbrough are understood to be in a battle to sign the Australian international.

Kilkenny was signed from Birmingham in January 2008 for 150,000 following an emergency loan spell. He still has one year left on his contract and Leeds rate the player to be worth 3 million. He was instrumental this season in helping Leeds gain promotion from League 1.

Although born in Enfield, Middlesex, at age 4 he emigrated to Australia with his parents and grew up in Brisbane before returning to these shores at the age of twelve after being invited to join Arsenal's Youth Development scheme. Coming through their Academy he finally left the Gunners and joined Birmingham City on a free transfer in January 2004 having also had trails with Manchester City, Aston Villa and Leicester City.

Kilkenny struggled to make an impression at St Andrews and in total only made 26 appearances for the club. During his four years with Brum he also had two loan spells at Oldham.

would we not be better off using the money on cork, cork and OUR mcann would be a great midfield 2

Don't you think we've been a bit short in the midfield department over the last couple of seasons CT, I to think he could be a good signing.

Cork has proved he could compete in the PL in the games he played for us. If Chelsea send him out on loan again, i imagine it will be to another PL club

Kilkenny could be a good signing, and the right age as well. I'd like to see Cork coming back for another season, but I suspect Dale might be right about the PL.
